The Trump administration plans to allow hunters to import trophies of elephants they killed in Zimbabwe and Zambia back to the United States, reversing a ban put in place by the Obama administration in 2014, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service official confirmed to ABC News today.
Even though elephants are listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, a provision in the act allows the government to give permits to import these trophies if there is evidence that the hunting actually benefits conservation for that species. The official said they have new information from officials in Zimbabwe and Zambia to support reversing the ban to allow trophy hunting permits.

Presidents will undo certain things in regards to policy as Democrats and Republicans. No President has made it so obvious that he is trying to undo any and everything his predecessor has done. The fuck does elephant trophies have to do with anything besides being something Obama implemented??

this is how the people at the top of our economy actually think.
any market solves any problem. don't think too hard about connecting the dots or following through with the long term plan for the species. partially domesticating a few thousand (hundred....dozen...) elephants for rich sport hunters works better than the silly laws that black markets break anyway AND creates jobs!
a lot of this is just a middle finger though. undoing what they can undo. most of the action this administration has taken has had nothing to do with popular referendums or even senate votes. it's about de-funding, de-regulating and shaping all they can that's insulated from politics.

these richie rich fucks have to pay a lot of money for big game hunting, and some of the money apparently goes towards conservation efforts.
but bringing preservation up is the most horseshit excuse ever big game hunters use to try to justify it, since they could easily just donate the money without shooting an elephant.
let me pay 100K to hunt a homeless person, and half the money goes to feed the homeless.
