"talking cars on a tuesday: Wednesday Edition"

my pathfinder has over 200k. still running great and I'm not planning on replacing it yet.

but I need cadillac converter lol, bank 1. Do I need to have one that's california legal? where do I get one from? does it matter that I'm in GA?

With the kid here/on the way I've been considering all of the things I do in life and trying to simplify them for the house.
Knowing that going to the gym would require being away from the house more, I built a gym set in the basement.
Knowing that I'd like to keep doing art stuff, I set up a work space
But knowing that we like doing outdoorsy stuff and the child safe car we have is a 2014 civic has me a little worried.
Because my scion can get us up mountains. That civic though, nah. Not a chance
There's a mad max scion someone built up that I'm considering doing, but then I would lose speed and highway safety for a functionality that I don't always use.

really handy on a number of occasions. buying lawn mowers, dryers, and other shit that won't fit into a car. oh and taking the dog around. he doesn't have to be on my seats. I can fold them down and he has more space in the back.

we got the pathfinder because of the 3rd row. both kids were able to sit behind me in middle row and we could still use the back for more passengers or luggage/stuff.

plus sitting up a lil higher let me see further down the road when driving.

I really wish Honda had kept on making that Element joint... When we realized we needed a 2nd vehicle I started looking in to them...but DAMN they were out of the budget used still... ended up with a station wagon which is cool...but still....

I love my Tacoma, solid mid sized truck and awesome aftermarket support for any mods you want to add. my bro in law bought one after riding in mine and it's a great truck, but he has two little ones in car seats (5yo & 1yo). when the 1yo is behind the passenger seat there is no room for the person in that seat, knees get stuck banging on the glove box and just overall uncomfortable. car seat in the middle seat isn't too bad but still, it gets cramped. He's now looking to move up to a Tundra or a Sierra.

I assume the same is true for any mid sized truck (e.g. Tacoma, Frontier, Canyon, etc...).

should be fine tho. just make sure you're watching the person too. they really just want to see if there's anything obvious wear & tear and of course, the mileage.

have you been rotating the tires, getting the oil changed, doing the regular maintenance stuff?

no major dings...

I have a tan interior that I was able to keep clean until I moved down here. The children left a few stains but nothing that can't be removed.

I'm having my son detail the crap out of it this weekend. He was like, "I should charge you" lol

You don't need to have that in GA...only if you're actually registering the car in CA. Anyway, I just replaced both cats on my uncle's CTS. I get most of my part from rockauto.com. Good prices, pretty quick delivery.

soooooo long story short- the right front wheel was stolen off my car. I will say, who ever stole it was nice enough to leave my car on the jack....
imagine walking up to you car and seeing ONE wheel missing... JUST ONE.

edit-
OHHHH and that was a cool 600$ lesson learned.
the wheel
the tire
the NEW LOCKING bolts.

Weather turnt cold and getting misfires. Ran the VAGCom for confirmation... Misfire in cylinder 3. Cleared the code and it came back a couple of days later, cleared it again and it's been cool ever since.
But yeah...I already know what it do....
Hit up the internet...yada yada yada....$404 later i'm sitting on 8 brand new coil packs and 8 new spark plugs.... I'm wondering if I went In too tough though...i probably coulda just replaced them as they failed...right?

several times over. My uncle...who's CTS I mentioned above, started getting misfire codes. He wanted me to scan it and do just that one. I said naw...you bought a Cadillac, you gotta pay to play. Went on Amazon and got 8 coils, 8 plugs and an intake gasket. Not about to be pulling that intake off to do coils one at a time...fuck that.

it's not THAT hard to get to them luckily...they're right there out in the open...I was just hoping I wasn't wasting money.

Think it'll improve my gas mileage too? I'm just under 80,000 miles and it's a 2008 model year. This will be the first time plugs and coils have been changed.

May as well take care of em all in one shot. Definitely will run smoother. Mileage may improve a tick, but I wouldn't go expecting miracles.

i need (well, really just want) a new car.

i'm kinda tired of pushin' my 06 'rolla with wind up windows. there's nothing really wrong with the car at all, other than it's small and i want something nicer. was pretty much moving forward with upgrading to a probably '14 or so camry se or something like that because it's MY turn to get the new(er) vehicle.

then the damn door on the van broke and we had to get that fixed. set me back 1200. but when the van door broke and we started doing some research online it turns out that it's a pretty common problem (which isn't surprising), but that it can be expensive to fix (which it kinda was). so we started talking about not wanting to put a ton of money into the van if it was gonna be super expensive to fix and instead possibly upgrade the van and i hold off on getting something, which was whatever to me, but i still wasn't feelin' the car payment on a new van because they would be higher no matter what.

well, i got to thinking about fuck a car payment. i've resigned myself to just buying a highlander off my pops this spring when he's ready to upgrade vehicles and riding that joint til it dies like i said i would the 'rolla. it would still be an upgrade for me and i wouldn't have a car note. but when i basically said this is what we should do because it makes the most financial sense, my wife acted all butthurt because for some reason she just KNEW she was about to get a new ride. i told her holdup, you weren't even in the discussion at all for a new ride this go 'round. the van hasn't been paid off but for about a year so we still got lots of time left on that jawn. she got over it, but she had already made up her mind that she was getting something new Haha.

so i think that's where i'm at. we got the van door fixed. still need to get an ac issue fixed, but other than that the van is great. drives great, mechanically sound, nothing really wrong other than some minor cosmetic shit (like the arm rest on the passenger side is wonky and the glasses holder compartment thing on the drivers side won't close.

damn i just typed a whole lot about nothing. i need to be more productive at work Haha.

All driven by 30-40+ white guys. I actually thought they were Teslas at first, with my bad eyes and that trident logo. Seems like I see one everyday now.

Maybe this is it?: https://www.cnbc.com/2014/06/04/fiat-launches-lower-cost-maserati-at-68000.html

I think you can get a used one for a good price

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

Shit is basic-as-hell, but I rarely drive anyway. Sure makes hardware store and supermarket trips easier.

Fine car, but that DCT has turned her off, and she doesn't want to drive stick. Initially wanted an Edge (but that's Fusion size, and she doesn't really like driving mine too much. That and cost...), but may go Escape, which is closer to her Focus on stilts. I'd need to give it a serious interior detail first, but we will see.

Only other option would be aftermarket warranty. It's an option, as not having a note will rock, but not sure what her comfort level is with that DCT
