"Miscellaneous Monday..."

Been at the new gig a little over a month now. It’s cool but frenetic.

Spent the weekend watching missed episodes of that Vietnam War documentary that recently aired on PBS. I remember looking through my dad’s pictures and thinking he was the baddest cat around. He still is! And them dudes should have never been there.

Smoked a Romeo y Julieta while chilling on the deck and listening to some Grand Puba whose debut solo album, Reel To Reel, dropped 25 years ago. Time won’t give me time!

Peace and love to each of you on this first day of a new work week.

hell. I almost forgot about you since you been gone so long.

I got a new phone and still don't know how to work it. Everything I owe is Apple and now I have this android and hate it. But I needed a cheaper phone plan. $80 a month is brutal....

question for you...

what do you think of older men dating younger women?

there's lots of factors in play when you say older man dating a younger woman.

it depends on the age difference between the two, the age bracket these folks are in and of course levels of maturity etc.

there's a huge difference between a 30yo dating a 18yo and a 65yo dating a 53yo. same difference in age, but still very different. once you hit that 50+ age bracket the "rules" shift a bit and age differences aren't viewed the same.

all of this is just me typing my thoughts, of course.

i was 25 and dated a 19yo. it got kinda old. now i'm 38 married to a 35yo. technically there's an age difference, but not really. i'd be ok with a ~10 year age difference at this point depending on maturity levels, place in life etc.

if i recall, you're low to mid 50s and he's just over 60. not a real big deal to me.

in your 20s, ya know? basically 38 and 32 are peers. 25 and 19 aren't, necessarily. ya can't even go out to the bar together. and yeah, it depends on maturity and perspective. there are too many factors for me to just have a blanket opinion on older dating younger and vice versa.

once you hit 40+ I don't see a problem with dating someone who is 10 years younger if everyone is happy.

and if you are 50 if you can pull a 35 year old woman more power to you.

I know a woman who is 28 and her man is 50. She complained about the sex falling off and I had to remind her the nigga is 50. He did just enough to get you but now he is on cruise control.

Depends on the age of the parties.

For instance, a 40 year old dude with a 20 year old young lady is shaky. That same 40 year old dude with a woman in her 30s maybe able to get away with it.

A cat in his 60s with a lady in her 40s is still wack cuz that’s a huge gap.

Dating younger has never been my cup of tea.

I got a friend and his kid has been kicked out of day care because his kid had everyone asking for more juice...

I ate a fly. it was either in the coffee pot, or descended into my cup. I reheated coffee from the day before (yeah), before I hit the gym. I'm on the porch sippin' and sunbathing and lightly chew what I believe to be some granola cereal I'd just eaten.

I pulled out a fly. Then I started gagging.

I can laugh now.

This is our 3rd week in the new apt. it feels good that my kids can walk to school; that I'm no longer being sweated at work about my time. That I'm not fucking homeless. Thank you, G-O-D.

Went to a friends' mom's funeral Saturday. That shit fucked.me.up. But he and his twin brother took care of her til the day she passed. Give your people their flowers while they're here *checks for proper their/they're usage*

Had a li'l cookout yesterday in Pasadena. I was SO lit. Today is all water.

peace to you and yourn..

I've been saying that I refuse to let that be my last game of basketball. I'm not going out like that. Once I recover, I vowed to play at least one more game.

But after seeing that Gordon Hayword injury, I had a brief thought of maybe just letting the hoops career fade on out.

Nah, I'm gonna get back out there once I recover. But I did tell the woman that if I ever rupture the other one, she can just go on and shoot me. I don't wanna go thru this mess again.

when I saw my guy rupture his achilles while hooping. Didn't get touched, didn't jump and land...rebound came off the rim, he knew it was gonna be a long rebound, turned to track the ball and just fell down. He started looking around crazily...later he would tell us he thought someone threw the ball at the back of his leg. SMH. That was the night before Thanksgiving. Dude had a vacation planned for Christmas in Disney World with his wife and kids, where he was running a marathon. Dude ran marathons and went out like that just pivoting. Scared the hell out of me. We kept playing while he went to ER, too. Nowadays, I got the bike and weights. Haven't balled in a minute.

I was at the top of the key (playing defense) and a long rebound came right to me. I grabbed it and bolted in the other direction for a fast break (2 on 1). I was thinking of how I was gonna dazzle 'em with a no-look or behind-the-back pass.

Next thing, it felt like someone kicked me hard in my heel and went down. I figured someone was chasing after me and got too close. I knew it was the Achilles as soon as it happened. The crazy thing is the fellas all thought I was joking. They said no one was anywhere near me.

Initially it was just a partial tear. Doc said my Achilles looked like a mop but several of those strands were still connected so I didn't need surgery. But then I stumbled one day and heard the pop. The whole thing was ripped. I had to go under the knife.

he was looking at us like "who threw the ball at me???" We were like, "bro, the ball is all the way over there and no one was around you". Then he realized what it was and just started yelling "noooooo". I felt so bad. Fam came back in town from Texas for the holiday and to hoop with his dudes and ended up fucking up the rest of his year. That's crazy that your's was still (sorta) in tact. So...had that not happened...what would have been the difference in recovery time?

Before the full tear, they wanted me to do the Plasma Rich Platelet treatment. They draw blood from you, spin it in a centrifuge to separate platelets and then inject it back at the site of the injury. But they can only do that on a partial tear. It’s still kind of an experimental thing (most insurance plans don’t cover it). Lots of pro athletes use this method. It’s supposed to speed healing & recovery time.

With the surgery, they say I won’t be back to 100% for at least a year. So I’m guessing the PRP therapy may have had me back in 6-9 months? That’s if it worked the way they wanted it too.

I wanna knock the rust off and maybe get my hoop on on the ship. Catch somebody out there and throw a put-back down on their head. Then I think about my guy. Fuck around and be on the floor lookin like Gordon Heyward or some shit...in the middle of the ocean. Ruin the whole damn cruise for everyone.

Back in the day there was a football player named Pudgy Abercrombie. Dude was a beast. Played at the same HS as Ty Law and Revis.

Anyway, my boy told me they had a reunion football game bs their rival HS. Full pads. Now this was an all star game so it all the old legends who almost made it but they were like 30ish... Dude showed up in his full gear complete with all the old school arm pads

Nigga took a sweep and got blown the fuck up and pads went flying everywhere. One play and he was done. Why the hell would anyone try playing full contact football 20 years after HS?
