"WHAT IS THE SCARIEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME???"

Yes!!! Brownsugar is in the Halloween spirit this year !!! I've made a screensaver for myself with over 50 Halloween pictures !!! Over the years, I have learned that spirituality is real and nothing to be played with and I really don't get into the real gory-type movies, I used to though...

Back in the day, we used to watch "The Shining" movie quite a lot but as I learned more and more about this movie, I can't watch it anymore. Over the years, I have come to understand that, "The Shining" is much more real than fake. I first watched it at a friends house and I didn't think much about it except for the scene with those two little scary assed girls>>> https://youtu.be/CMbI7DmLCNI This is scene in the movie is what really inspired me to watch the movie again...and again and again. I don't watch "The Shining" anymore and I won't go into details of all of the reasons why I stopped watching it. This movie is not super bloody and no weird monsters or creatures but I have to say that "The Shining" movie ranks at the top of the scary list in my opinion...

I will probably be watching a few light weight scary movies like, "Leprechaun", "Chucky" and "Ghostbusters", vintage Frankenstein, Wolfman & Dracula, all within each series...I think???

Please tell me, what scary movie(s) is there that gives you chillz not thrillz, makes your liver quiver and makes your bladder splatter ???

I LUV U 2!!!

This movie and Carrie still stand out as the most frightening movies I've ever watched.

I find that the old horror movies are so much scarier because they don't rely so heavily on special effects, gore, or making you "jump" out of your seats ... but rather these old flicks instill the fear psychologically so you leave with your mind all fucked up and can't stop thinking about it. Haha.

Yes, there is no doubt that the characters were actual and it is possible that the story was based on something real either in full or in parts. You know if a person got $$$, they can be blind, crippled and crazy they can get a bride or a groom. This was real then and still real today...

At night with the sound up and lights off. These two were very effective and the movies both ramp up over time with you feeling tense and giving you a sense of hopelessness. A good horror movie will always give you that unsettling feeling in your stomach. I'm a huge horror head so if I movie can make me feel uneasy at times I think it worthy.

Not sure what my "scariest" of all time is though. I'll try to get a list soon.

^^^I agree with all of this. And what other way is there to watch a scary movie than at night, with lights off and a great sound system. lol

The Descent to me is perfect for it on a big screen.

I just can't take it because of the fact that some of these way-out stories could possibly be based on true stories and spirits and stuff like that, I just can't watch these type of movies at this time, but I would love to see your list !!!

Watched it in high school and have had regular nightmares about it ever since. Now that I'm older, it's not horror movies that get to me the most, since real life is way scarier. But I rematched a few weeks back and it still had my heart racing. (Although now I recognize that the tension takes a turn 2/3 of so through, and it becomes more about being weird and disturbing instead of primally terrifying.)

During its time people thought it was and that helped make the movie effective.

Kinda loosely, and I mean very loosely based on Ed Gein because of the eating of people but I wouldn't really say its a huge influence on this movie.

The thing about this is at it's time it was absolutely horrifying to movie to the audience but it isn't really bloody at all, the camera cuts away from a ton.

I wouldn't put it in my scariest of all time but it's certainly unsettling. I'm desensitized to a lot of horror but I can definitely see how someone would be shook after watching this especially if you don't watch horror movies much.

It's a great 'theater' movie.

Also pretty good at home on a nice screen with good surround sound (sub-woofer required for max enjoyment).

I wouldn't watch it alone at night if I wasn't big into scary flicks though. lol

DEFINITELY. one of my favorite "horror" movies simply because outside of the couple jumps, I didn't even realize I was tensing up until I looked around/felt the energy in the room.

the ending was classic though. I remember when the screen cuts to black in the theater, it stayed dark for what felt like hours but I'm sure was only 30 seconds or so, then the lights just cut on. No credits, music, etc.

Everyone sort of looked at each other with this blank stare & got out of the theater as quick as they could

The marketing for these types of movies is great but the actual movies are garbage.

My bandmates got a copy of BW cause their brother works in film. They swore it was scary as shit... but the one Black female who watched with them was like “nah son, that shit was wack”

I think if you are into camping tho it could be scary.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

I have never been a die-hard horror movies fan but I surely have watched several through the years, but when you see some paranormal, spiritual stuff with your own eyes and you know what you have seen is real, it does change you. For the past three years, I have avoided watching most horror films with the exception of the "Leprechaun" series. "The Shining" movie has a lot of realistic features and it is based on a true story and it gives me chills just like the chills I felt when I saw a real spirit...

Like I said in this original post, I have about 50 or more Halloween type pictures but nothing bloody or scary I also have some very beautiful fall photos and cute Halloween pictures and NO REAL GHOST!!!

I fucking LOVE Clive Barker and this and the original Hellraiser stands as two of the best things he's done on film.

This movie still creeps me the fuck out and Tony Todd was the perfect choice.

The Exorcist cemented it for me when I watched it a few years back after not watching it for about 10 years and it still stood up.

Few of my favs:

-The Descent
-The Hills Have Eyes
-Paranormal Activity
-The Conjuring and it's sequel
-Cabin in the Woods
-The original Saw was cool
-I like It Follows

It's the season. Add a few new ones to your list. Of these, try The Descent and It Follows.

The others might be too heavy for you. The Descent is based on biology so it's not creepy spirits or anything. But still an awesome premise. It follows has an underlying theme to it that's pretty on the nose but it's more creepy than super scary (though there is one spirit in it, but again, the spirit is more of a metaphor).

Let me know if you watch them.

The ending of bamboozled is haunting as shit.

Requiem for a Dream was a rough watch and scary in the "never do hard drugs" way. Years later I befriend someone who winds up pissing off gangs, said beats his ass straps him to a chair and injects him with Meth, and that was almost where the friendship ended until he got himself a felony, later on got clean, and became very successful using his white privilege.

Each received an American remake that wasn't too bad but the OG films are terrifying.

had me on the edge of my seat, some of those scenes were shot with crazy intensity. You'll know what I mean by the stairwell.

Ju-On: The Grudge had you feeling hopeless too. That shit did not stop. You step foot in the house, you're fucked!

These are two I'm adding to my October re watch list.

NIGGA.

Begins like a generic 'found footage' story but he just stacks different horror genres on top of different horror genres until it literally explodes 30 minutes later, lol.

Also, quiet as kept...first Japanese Ring movie.

Watched it, was like 'Ehh, pretty good, not that scary'. Took a shower later that day and had to leave the door open and shit, LOL.

That's what did it to me. When it hits the fan it's something beyond your worse nightmare. Like I couldn't think of anything more fucked up than something like this happening to me.

One of my favorite horror short films of all time. Since you reminded me I think this goes straight to the top of my list for things people need to see for Halloween and it's only about 30 minutes long.

are being extremely down played

mostly the hand held filming

the documentary feel to the script

I remember people legit thought this was a real thing

Very early on in the reality entertainment we are overwhelmed with now

Also...https://i.imgur.com/jlRsYSe.jpg...these stupid dolls were extremely popular at the time

I honestly had to ask a friend to move them from his living room because they were creeping me the f out after watching that movie
