and it's prolly cause she didn't say her name in her verse.

these days, if you don't say your name in your verse the chances of folks knowing who you are is slim to none if you are a guest on a song.

I used to read the credits on rap albums but now that they are digital? meh

http://www.complex.com/music/2009/09/pants-on-fire-hip-hops-most-exposed-liars

Arguably the first female gangster rapper, Bo$$ talked nonstop about slangin' in Compton, being a certifiable G-ass killa who was also paradoxically dead broke, and assorted other street tales that were so familiar to the early-'90s West Coast movement. Then came the Wall Street Journal reporter who in 1994 published a story exposing Lichelle Laws' middle-class upbringing in Detroit--including two deacon parents who constantly sent money to her in L.A.

her and the dj (boss was a group) stopped getting along, along with other industry politics. but her album wasn't a reflection of her private school upbringing and I remember folks finding out and having issues with that.

she also has health issues. not sure when that affected the career tho.

I'm leaning more toward her health issues were her downfall. I remember that so-called expose. I thought everyone knew she was from Detroit.

when most folks found out about him. Boss only had the one album and then things fell apart. not solely because of her background tho.

ultimately, it shouldn't matter but to some folks it did. her flow was dope as hell.

Wasn't like she was keeping her upbringing a secret. Hell, there was a skit on the album with her mother(?!?) scolding her via phone message for acting gangsta when she took ballet classes.
