Really though instead of black people bashing each other publicly, there needs to be a sense of urgency to unify the people. There needs to be open dialogue to work at how we can move towards breaking down the barriers that separate us (young and old).

I know that I made some harsh comments regarding Obama, but at the end of the day he’s still my brother. I didn’t like how he handled certain issues regarding us as people. While I said those things, I know that if we don’t stand together we are going to continue to fail.

among inner city youth was not a shining moment. It kept happening and he did nothing. It doesn’t mean that he can’t be criticized or called out on it.

As I said that blacks all over need to come together and air things out so that we can put differences behind us and move forward with unity.

34. "Eric Holder"
In response to Reply # 27

On August 12, 2013, at the American Bar Association's House of Delegates meeting, Holder announced the "Smart on Crime" program, which is "a sweeping initiative by the Justice Department that in effect renounces several decades of tough-on-crime anti-drug legislation and policies." Holder said the program "will encourage U.S. attorneys to charge defendants only with crimes "for which the accompanying sentences are better suited to their individual conduct, rather than excessive prison terms more appropriate for violent criminals or drug kingpins…" Running through Holder's statements, the increasing economic burden of over-incarceration was stressed. As of August 2013, the Smart on Crime program is not a legislative initiative but an effort "limited to the DOJ's policy parameters."

gronkowski doesn't have to be the spokesmen for anything (exceptabject gronk-ness) because there is no inherent responsibility that comes with his status/platform/visibility

frankly he's pretty low in the "social heirarchy" of whiteness

flipside, when any of us get *any* level of success we are OBLIGED to represent for us (hell, in my own little life I was raised to remember that i "had to represent" wherever I went. we very much wear as a weird badge of honor that we have to be "10x better just to get a seat")

we are vilifying Jordan (and others like Dez Bryant) TO THIS DAY for saying they don't want to get involved. It was all jokes and whatnot but a certain show on viceland JUST threw this out for why "Bron is GOAT"

its a trip how easily it becomes "damned if you do, damned if you don't"

I've spoke on his relationship to the Ravens and by proxy the City of Baltimore before, but I really think he's at a loss on what to do with his time and how to remain relevant. It's hard to describe because our city has a chip on it's shoulder and despite his previous trouble in Atlanta, we stood by Ray as "our guy". He kept a relatively low profile when not playing. He did his community work, had his public facing things for the City (the bowling night, concerts). Even has a street named after him. He could have ran for mayor and won at one point if he wanted to. From the Ray Rice thing to this, it's tough to see it all unfold. He's like your favorite uncle who was the man back in the day, but is out in the streets looking bad and all your friends are telling you about it.

Streets won't let me chill.

that generic "YES, LAWD" cadence is like catnip for dumb folks. doesn't matter what the actual content of what's being said is; as long as you're saying it like a cartoon preacher, all is well.

Ray Lewis is as dumb and lost as they come. It hurts my heart that he's considered a mentor for young black men.

Eventually, that means one less person hypnotizing the city into doing dumb things because of his superbowl rings.
