"Black woman goes off on vet with service dog"

this photo tho...lmao.

She looks how I feel when I see dogs in restaurants

http://static.lakana.com/media.foxla.com/photo/2017/09/20/woman%20yells%20about%20service%20dog_1505937212501_4195801_ver1.0_640_360.PNG

I feel bad for her SO, he got that "shoulda never dated a strong independent Black Woman" look on his face.

People linestep with that designation to bring their damn dog everywhere, and you can't question them. The hell is a damn mastiff going to help you do but get in the way? I don't have anything against dogs, but the way fitewolks treat them perplexes the hell out of me.

Streets won't let me chill.

Lady might've been wrong in her approach (screaming), but she was 100% in the right about the dog, IMHO. One minute she's eating, next minute there's a big-ass dog next to her. FOH. Fuck eating around dogs.

I'n in a park downtown eating my lunch on a bench and this lady brings her dog near me and lets it take a shit on the grass like 20 feet in front of me. I wanted to frisbee my vegan pizza box right at her head.

Most people want to be around other people's dogs, man. How do I know it won't bite or try to grab food off my plate? Why the fuck should I even have to think about that?

Same with people that bring dogs to playgrounds, athletic fields, outdoor festivals and events, and the strip of grass in front of my house.

Animals are pretty much banned (for good reason) in most eating establishments, including Texas (where this took place):

https://legalbeagle.com/5990898-texas-health-code-dogs-restaurants.html

Restaurants may be public spaces for PEOPLE, but clearly not animals.

Dogs don't wash their paws. The cleanliness of the dog can't be verified, either. The dander causes allergic reactions for some people. They shed fur, which gets all over the furniture and restaurant. Some people are quite frightened of dogs, also.

Also, you're comparing dogs and people in two of your examples. C'mon, man. And the third (loud personal music) is also not allowed in restaurants.

Edit: Also, that should say "most people DON'T want to be around other people's dogs..." in my previous post.

It's become a way for dog owners to avoid paying fees when flying or taking some other form of transit with their dogs, and they can essentially just keep the dog with them the whole time. They can also bring their dog to places like restaurants and hotels, avoiding having to find a kennel or pay more for a pet-friendly place.

Edit: SMH @ this worst-case scenario:

Delta passenger bitten by emotional support dog couldn’t escape, says attorney

Bonus: Marlin Termaine Jackson (black) was the one bitten. Racist-ass dog. The owner WASN'T EVEN CHARGED WITH ANYTHING.

i say vocalized which gives you the option of being loud like she was or you coulda said the same things calmly and maybe without the cursing.

i'm curious as to how many among us woulda been confrontational about it as opposed to just leaving.

It depends on the dog and where it is, however. If it's not next to me then fine, but I don't want to sit next to a dog. Also, if the dog moves around too much I don't want to sit near it.

I'd be the same way if someone started watching a movie on their ipad out loud in a restaurant (for example). I'd assume they were assholes, as assholes don't care about others, so instead of wasting time I go as high as I can. Try to get reseated or bounce.

To be fair to the vet in the OP's story, he apparently has a legit service dog, but why get a Great Dane?

http://www.all-about-great-danes.com/images/light-brindle-great-dane-being-brushed.jpg

He's an asshole for not understanding that people don't want to be around a giant-ass dog, and probably should have gotten something that people would be more comfortable with in public. The same public he wants to take his service dog around.

Why not a much smaller Lab?

I almost had a bar brawl this past Sunday. not something I'm proud of and it left feeling embarrassed. I can be an butthole when it comes to breaking rules tho...

While watching the game I guy about 6'3 came in stood in front of the TV. I'm 5'4 so I couldn't see. I tapped him on the shoulder and said, "you can't stand there". First mistake.

he looked at me like WTF but, moved down a few steps. I noticed him talking to others and pointing at me. I lost it! So bad, that for the rest of the evening folks move out my way when I walked passed them. White folks...

In my mind I thought it was rude of him to plant himself there without checking what was behind him. In his, "it's a bar"

I was wrong on how I approached him..

Becky and Charles fresh off yoga class are having their ancestors cursed culminating in I, their grandfather, telling them to kowtow 20 times.

Leave the vet alone as that is an accomplishment worth celebrating. Rules should have to be bended for vets anyways.

but i'm rational...and would've seen it was a service dog and prolly ignored....

BUT if hipster ass Shaggy n Scooby came thru sittin at a table next to me and lettin the dog eat off their plate and out their mouth...i'd say somethin just like a chic would

A relative of mine uses a service dog almost everywhere he goes and people are always too kind to him and the dog. This ABW idiot must be having another bad day at being alive.

The solution is simple. Rather than making yourself a complete jackass and insensitive creep, If you don't want eat near a service dog, then sit elsewhere, or leave the restaurant, and don't come back.

Had she stepped to my relative like that her fucking head woulda been taken off.

Dopey bitch.

was in a particular bestbuy the other day and there were three people/families with dogs
in the game section, dogs going crazy barking at each other, owners laughing it off
no service pet indicators anywhere... many customers lost cause I was not the only one
exiting upon the sight of the ridiculous indoor dog park

..they all look depressed as fcuk. Side-eyeing regular dogs that get to have all kinds of fun with their owners and be all disobedient when they want to.

But yea, "service" dog or not...that sh!t should NOT have been in a restaurant period.point.blank.

If your "condition" is that bad, stay your ass at home and order in or phone up Bite Squad or whatever your cities equivalent may be.

Her man was looking at her the whole time reconsidering his whole position in the relationship and if he should have listened to his family before he booed up this human megaphone.

She should have handled it with class and her point would have probably been heard better instead of her words being a diamond covered in sh!t.

Lol fucking laughable.

You are only independent on your way go being lonely yelling at people for stupid shit. Its a dog. Calm the fuck down. Use your words like a grown up in a normal tone i dont care if someone “stepped to her” yell when you are danger, otherwise no matter what you will always look sttupid and wrong. People posting fake service talk articles makes zero sense unless you know for a fact that dog was a fake one LOL that argument holds no weight otherwise

Props to the vet for their service, a no diss for them needing the service animal. (Damn @ having a service animal for PTSD and getting cussed the fuck out)

However, when you go into a restaurant/establishment where food is prepared, there are different rules. If I have a food allergy, they usually explicilty either on the menu or signage ask that you disclose that.

I have never seen a restaurant ask if you have an allergy to dogs or cats, etc cause they usually are never there (expect Bronx bodegas with that cat that lays across the sneeze guards).

One form of ablism doesn't trump the other, though it seems that being a vet trumped it all. Thank you for your service, but in a restaurant, I'm sorry we'd have to find another way to serve you, perhaps with a designated area.

She def screamed on em, but I'm sure she was like "damn 50 years ago my veteran Black granddaddy couldn't get served but this dog is staring in my face"

2. My larger point is that the restaurant is at fault here. Their carelessness is what put her in a position to have to act at this extreme. She's responsible for her actions, but they are most culpable. Not only does she have a legitimate beef, but she could/should sue if she wants too. That is a statement of how wrong she isn't, even though she screamed on everybody.

In response to Reply # 78

vs the threat of said animal posing an issue to persons with allergies, which is DEFINITELY a consideration to be made of an eating establishment.

it is as if they said "we know we have a duty to patrons who may have allergies and the contamination of this establishment and food, BUT this guy is a vet with PTSD so we are going to trump those needs and favor this one patron because we deem his affliction as more important/serious than the other"

lower case "t" trump, btw, lol forgot that was a verb now in a different connotation.

in Popeyes a few months ago an older black woman threatened to call the health department because a young girl had her puppy in there. I thought she overreacted because this is a place with a counter where everyone is ordering food to go

but this restaurant near my place brands itself around a dog friendly policy https://www.lazydogrestaurants.com/dogs/info

what Im guessing happened here is she complained, only to be greeted with an air of "who do you think you are (as a black woman) coming in our place of business starting trouble" and the tape started rolling after she was moved towards aggression. one of white people's favorite pastimes is saying we overreacted to being slighted

Dog owners stay trying to treat their dogs like people, but then when the dog acts like a dog they say "well, that's what dogs do." It's like a loophole to *not* take responsibility.

I don't want animal hair anywhere near my food or on my clothing. I don't want to smell someone's dog while I'm eating also (yeah, I can smell them). That's not unreasonable nor hard to understand.

That being said, I agree that dogs shouldn't be allowed inside restaurants. It's one thing if it's a seeing eye dog and the person needs to to get around. But a therapy dog? Mmmmnah. At an outside table, sure. Inside, no. Especially a big ass great dane lol. No way for a dog that big to just go quietly unnoticed. So I wouldn't have said anything or left, but I get it. I feel bad for the dog, with all these stupid people screaming over it.

Colorado is extremely dog friendly, and people here still push it. Like "Oh well I needed to come into the Apple store, am I just supposed to leave my dog outside or at home??" Yes bitch.

Your best bet is to leave the establishment if a service dog being there offends you because, by law, they can be there. Trying to get the animal removed (in regards to some of the discussion in here) is akin to trying to get some paraplegic person's wheelchair removed from the place.

WE're hosting it in Toronto and Prince Harry is here for it. It's like an Olympic games for injured war vets. I've been so humbled by the incredible people I've learned about. Couldn't stop the tears a couple times.

I didn't know this service dogs were being used for amputees and such. A great idea. So many of these guys and girls...if it happens before your married....I'd assume that your chances for relationships goes down. A great idea for sure. I know some adults with Tourette's also have dogs for similar reasons.
