Whitlock introduced Ta Nahesi to a few folks who didn't know about him by referencing his name. I'm assuming he did this on that Fox Sports TV show of his. If so, pretty interesting a Fox Sports TV show would want to reference an ESPN television reporter, but I guess he has to do whatever he can to earn his paychecks.

That's so bizarre to me, but the ratings are so poor, so I guess Fox Sports has to do what they can to keep the lights on.

They had Whitlock on as a guest to discuss this....I wanted to jump through the screen when they asked him "Why on earth would she label the President a White Supremist?" To which he replied "Ta-Nehisi is an intellectual leader of the Left and he recently wrote a piece basically calling Trump a White Supremist, and his minions followed suit."

So ESPN thought it was a good idea to name Whitlock Chief Editor of the Undefeated back when it was in development. Whitlock approached Ta-Nehisi about working with him on the site, Ta-Nehisi told him to kick rocks...shortly after Whitlock was relieved of the position and later fired from ESPN

Like, I don't know exactly what he is saying, or how he is phrasing it

But when Jemele tweeted what she did, I immediately assumed that she had just read TNC's piece... and I'm willing to bet I'm right.

Even her wording was clearly influenced by the Atlantic article.

38. "Kid Apologizes for His Role in Bizarre Colin Kaepernick Impersonation"

https://www.spin.com/2017/09/kid-n-play-colin-kaepernick-apology-jason-whitlock/

Christopher Reid–also known as Kid, one half of the bygone party-rap duo Kid ‘n Play–has apologized for his impersonation of NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick in a planned sketch for Fox Sports 1’s Speak for Yourself that never actually aired. “Let me be clear-the skit and photo were not meant to disrespect Colin’s message or political stance,” he wrote in a statement posted to Facebook. “Rather, we wanted to spoof the media’s treatment of him and the circus that has been created…Anyone who knows me knows where I stand on Colin Kaepernick–exactly where he stands.”

Last week, a minor controversy erupted when Speak for Yourself host and conservative sports prognosticator Jason Whitlock tweeted a photo of himself with a Kaepernick impersonator who was later revealed as Reid, wearing an afro wig and raising his fist in a black power salute. Because Whitlock has publicly criticized Kaepernick’s pro-black politics in the past–and because some observers initially mistook Reid for a white guy in the photo–the image was rightfully interpreted as an attempt to ridicule Kaep’s public stances against racism and police violence.

In his statement, Reid acknowledged that Whitlock isn’t exactly a hero of the Black Lives Matter movement, but argued that his experiences as a black man from New York City put him squarely on Kaepernick’s side of the debate. “Being born and raised in NYC I grew up seeing and reading about dozens of acts of police brutality,” he wrote. “And the same way we know the names of Tamir Rice, Philando Castile and Michael Brown today, I grew up knowing the same fate had come to Eleanor Bumpurs, Amadou Diallo, and Abner Louima. Sadly, little has changed.”

but he still thought it would have been wise to go on a segment for Jason Whitlock where he was going to poke fun at Kaepernick's situation? That makes no sense to me at all. It almost seems as if Kid is trying to play both sides.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

I don't know if he works with him presently, but Kid worked as music supervisor or something similar for Bill Maher's HBO show. I don't know if Bill Maher is still his boss because I haven't watched Bill Maher in years, so I couldn't tell you if Kid is struggling to pay his light bills at the moment.

It's not like it's a job that required him to go to work every day.
