Never watched fully American Pimp. Never was too into Ice T because of it. Limits my appreciation of Snoop Dogg (don't think he ever should have gotten a pass for showing up on the red carpet of the VMAs with two black women on leashes).
Made me reluctant to watch the Deuce on HBO but caught it last night and it was really good. Also did a good job, I think, of not romanticizing the exploitative and violent nature of pimping.
Anyway, why you think Pimping gets such a pass as something cool, charming or funny in certain segments of our culture?
