Sea World, beaches (now is probably the best beach weather time), Lego land, etc

edit: I googled where Carlsbad is, if you stay there and get a rental (or use the train as you said) you got tons of options! Last time I was in SD we stayed in La Jolla but we went to a wedding in Oceanside. Carlsbad is in between. I think we even took a Lyft from Oceanside to La Jolla and it wasn't too expensive.

I lived in Oceanside as a child, which is right next to it.

First off - the beach and the weather.

Carlsbad Village is a little spread out but nice and touristy.

lego Land is about 10 miles south if you're into that.

I think if you do go a little further south I'd suggest:

Walk around Encinitas beach area - it's a trip. Swami's beach is my favorite their. (About 15 miles south.)

Torrey Pines Reserve in La Jolla - My favorite beach to take folk to for some light hiking - views are spectacular. (About 22 miles south.)

Or the glider port in La Jolla - right by the Salk institute and UCSD. Glider port is fun - and the beach down the steps is good too.

Downtown La Jolla/La Jolla Cove are fun.

oh, and San Diego is super famous for beer now - since I don't drink I can't help - but there's a lot of beer.

Carlsbad is pretty nice, the beach Legoland the aquarium, the flowers, the village area, the Renovatedto downtown Oceanside are all very close together.

I do think that La Jolla especially Torrey Pines to the golf course to the glider port to the Scripps oceanography Institute to the code to downtown to Wind and Sea Beach here's more spectacular.
