year, and when I made this Summer's mix right around July 4, I had this song as a candidate to be on there, based on me hearing it July 1st while in Atlanta...and when I listened to it on my own, without being at a club, I said "nah........she sounds like she just learned to rap, I'll leave it off."
Biggest mistake ever...song became the biggest song of the Summer, by faaaaaar, in the club.
I can say, it's super catchy, easy to learn, beat is super typical Trap but bouncy enough for them to love, and women already love her persona. So yeah...it isn't for me, but I get it and I don't mind playing it.
The fact that we don't even care about Red bottoms means we'll NEVER comprehend it in any way. It's just their anthem for the moment.

I don't even really mess with trap like that and I like this song. In fact I just like Cardi, period.
I think the triumph thing is key. Her authenticity, too.
Like, is she the first female rapper to talk shit? no.
But I can't think of another woman in this space doing it with such.. vulnerability. It's like underdog music.
Nicki, Remy, hell even the singers aka Rhi and dare I say Beyonce... they all do their empowerment/shit-talking or whatever. But they do it with this 'Queen' vibe.. like they're super-secure in their respect/positions, throwing minions some crumbs.

spot. Used to follow her on IG after seeing some of her stuff on WorldStar and the other similar accounts. She was funny and seemed to be jive cool. The type of chic that I could kick it with in a bar, a game, the strip club, church, and even around my folks.

...my partner who isn't even into rap like that said it back when she was first on Love & Hip-Hop that she is the Lucille Ball of her time and she damn sure has proven herself as such.
She is VERY authentic in her connectivity to listeners and those that actually take time to listen to her plight coming from where she did to where is now. Very transparent and folks connect with such.
