"tell me where I fucked up: wife's email about Equifax"

wife sent an email to friends and family about equifax and posted a link saying you can go here and see if you were affected.

i reply all and say "Man I'm not clicking on NO links. Nope. I'll call them. And don't arrest me grammar police "

She replies all: Really? on a group email of 22 people, this is how my husband reps me???? I know your social and already did it for you. NO MORE REPLIES. Lawd. Smh"

*disclaimer, I work in IT as a Sr. Sys Admin. Users click shit all the time and expose us. My response was friday humor, tongue and cheek.*

We just got off the phone and she says I undermined her. I told her it looked like she was flexing her muscles uneccesarrily with her reply, i was being funny while putting awareness out there, don't be clicking links.

she mad.

I'm right, but still wrong.

come on man.

If I'm a spammer then "Click here to see if you're affected by the Equifax hacks!" is legitimately the perfect wording for a phishing attack.

But your second-to-last sentence had it on the money and your reply wasn't even that nuts. You even included the smiley -- that should give you the benefit of the doubt in marriage court

that whole email chain. She thought she was doing a service and her husband basically made the shit seem like a trash move. Now, I KNOW that's not where you were coming from, but just seeing it through her eyes, that's my opinion. She got on some "two wrongs..." and aired you out in response.

PSA: If you check Equifax's site to see if your data was stolen, you *waive your rights* to sue Equifax or be part of a class action suit.

>class action suit.

As Equifax explains in the terms of use, customers using its products are subject to mandatory, binding arbitration. “By consenting to submit Your Claims to arbitration, You will be forfeiting Your right to bring or participate in any class action (whether as a named plaintiff or a class member) or to share in any class action awards, including class claims where a class has not yet been certified, even if the facts and circumstances upon which the Claims are based already occurred or existed.”

Weissman said that the arbitration clause attached to the free credit monitoring service covers only the credit monitoring service offered and not the overarching breach of data. Still, if Equifax failed to inform a customer ― a victim of the hack, say ― that their identity had been compromised and was being used without their knowledge, by signing up for their free credit monitoring offer and thus agreeing to the arbitration clause, they would have waived the right to sue over this failure outside of arbitration.

However, Equifax also requires consumers who have requested their credit score directly from the company in the past to have agreed to an arbitration clause that could cover the breach.

“If you’ve been an Equifax customer, they will claim that you have agreed to an arbitration provision,” Weissman said.

A company spokesman said the arbitration only applied to the free credit monitoring, not the cybersecurity breach.

It sounds like some fascinating world wrought with peril where things can go bad at any time over the most innocent of actions.

You probably could've told her that in person or over the phone. Why did she sign you up for something? Y'all might be screwed out of the class action lawsuit that is coming down the pipe.
