"A coworker was killed 2 days ago"

He was smoking that shit and I guess he owed someone money or stole from the wrong person. His parents came home from out of town and didn't see his car so they thought he was at work. His bedroom door was locked tho... and when his Dad opened it he found his son.

Last few weeks he wasn't his normal self. He used to dap me up and shoot the shit for a few but he had been real quiet. Now a few people have admitted they knew he was on that shit real heavy.

Crazy.

The guys that I know that used to smoke that shit smoked because they wanted to get high, rather than because they felt like they had to. Combine that with depression, and it's a de-facto addiction.

corporate job in his early 30's, waay back in the 70's. Dude was on heroin, and a dealer came into his job with a gun, demanding that he paid him back, right then and there, in front of everyone who worked there.

Of course he got fired, and he never worked again. He got divorced a year later. He spent a good 20 years on the streets, and in and out of folks' houses, and died from alcohol poising maybe 10-15 years ago.

One of my warehouse guys committed suicide after work one night. We left work on Thursday night and went home. I had the next day off and I get a call from work around noon. They said he hung himself the night before. So i went in to be with the crew. Company sent in a therapist and we all had a talk before. But we all still had to work. It just kind of sucked the life out of the building for a while.

an older gentleman who worked at my old shop passed away. My boss hired him just to work on the other techs' off days. He worked 3 days of week. He'd turned wrenches over 30 years. Very sweet, seen and knew everything when it came to cars. On Wednesday evening we walked out to our cars together. Last thing I said was "see you Friday, Andy". Friday he didn't show up, nor did he call. He had only worked there 2 weeks, but we knew that wasn't his style. Boss drove over to his house where he was met by his wife. He never woke up that morning. Shit hit me so hard.

Small firm...only 6 of us in the office total.....7 counting the receptionist....
He was a young guy too...probably 30-35 at the most. Gay. His partner was rich. I designed their kitchen. Seemed happy.
One day the owner comes in to work, not saying anything to anybody...so my coworker puts up with it for a couple of hours and finally asked the owner what gives... Owner said the office manager's parents had been calling him since last night asking if he knew where their son was because they hadn't heard from him in a week..... yada yada yada... Owner wasn't aware that he'd broken up with his partner and moved out of their house over a month or two prior...had gotten an apartment in the neighborhood our office was in, and had been spiriling down for weeks....
Long story short, police came to the office later that afternoon, asked the owner to come confirm that a body they'd found in an apartment was the office manager...
I quit that job a few months later....it became too much.

and very cool. They had a Holiday weekend, maybe even Labor Day, 2-3 years ago.

He gets a text from one of their other coworkers, all in the same department....saying the dude killed himself, his wife, and their two small kids. We were at a party, and my boy went to the bathroom to cry. I felt for him...he said it was rough going back in the next few days.

that kid killed himself right before Christmas. I think it was like a week or two before Christmas. I was at the mall shopping when I got the phone call. What made it even harder was his dad and uncle both worked first shift and we all knew them. His dad came back to work right away. He said he needed to keep busy and was going crazy at home. I swear every time I saw him I had to hold back tears. I was laid off about 4 months later. Everything was different from there on out.

Seems like the only way it would be worse is if he shot himself in front of her.

My first job out of college the company president died. Dude was in his late fifties early sixties. Small company less than sixty people. He had talked to me that week about getting my passport ready and that he was gonna take me on sales trips to Calgary to learn the other part of the org. He goes to Calgary, flies back the next day, has dinner with his wife (Valentine's Day) has a heart attack they night. We came into the office Friday and they broke the news to us. It was hard hard.

They buried him on Monday, Tuesday we get back to the office one of the older engineers has a seizure in the office that day. He died the next Friday.

It was unreal.

Had some other employees die who I didn't actually work with.

First one was killed by a drunk driver. Drunk driver got on the Eastbound lanes of SR520 going West. My co-worker was one of the earliest to get in the office, so she was already on 520 at about 5AM coming East. There's this part of the freeway that goes under an overpass and right at the overpass the freeway curves. She had no chance. If she saw him it was for no more than one second. Of course, because his BAC was over 3 times the legal limit, he wasn't even injured.

The other co-worker went missing while hiking. They found his body at the bottom of a ravine. No one knows for sure, but some people that were close to him speculated that he may have been depressed and that he didn't fall but committed suicide because I guess he was a pretty accomplished hiker and where he was wasn't a particularly dangerous or difficult hike.

The 3rd had been not feeling well, but still working, for a couple weeks. He finally decided to take some time off and while he was off he went to the hospital. Ended up in the hospital for about 3 weeks and finally succumbed to whatever it was that was going on his body. I think the ultimate cause of death was heart failure but everyone was so shocked because you think you're gonna be fine going to the doctor, so no one really talks about it...i never got the real story and most of the people who worked closely with him are retired now.
