I was gifted an Xbox One a good two years ago and never got around to setting it up because I would rather do other shit with my evenings
but, after reaching a point where im finding most TV shows bore the entire fuck out of my brain (i got my shows but nothing Im deep into is out right now) I decided to set this thing up
what are some must see games for the xbox?
I'm not too into shooters and to be honest, I'm not trying to be called nigger or a bunch of other garbage while gaming.

That's what I do it makes for a way better experience. Also you can start a party chat where only the people you know can talk to you.
You'd have to give us a good idea of what you're into before we start suggesting things you may cop and not like. You like deep story? More gameplay focused? Fighting? Action or questing?
Give us examples of things you're into like movies and such and that'll help also.

I've played Limbo which as I understand it is/was a console game first and then went mobile. I also loved Samarost which was a live action puzzle game - you had to build a thing to get to another thing and so forth.
I'm quite literally starting from nothing - I didnt grow up with a nintendo or a sega or whatever, I was the poor kid who showed up and watched the other kids play because I didnt have a console or enough friends who had consoles to even practice on to get any skills because we were all poor.
Actually, I had a hand me down sega in 98 which at that point it was outgoing so I missed all the hype. I remember trying final fantasy after hearing the hype and totally hating it
I think I like action but I'm not about real warfare and shooting up people - aliens or some other weird shit, sure.
Movies? Im all over the place but I like sci fi and mind bendy shit like the matrix/dark city/inception/etc
Is there like, a game that is from the same planet as rick and morty? Something bizzarre, beautiful, funny and challenging?
BTW I tried Fallout Shelter and was deeply underwhelmed.
So i guess I said all of that to say "I aint sure"

lot of people that loved Limbo thought Inside improved on everything Limbo did, some people thought it was too dark but it was more intuitive and clever with its puzzles from what I hear (I didn't play either)
you should check if XBox One has The Fall (I assume it does; keep in mind The Fall is mid-90s adventure game confusing at times) and Brothers: Tale of Two Sons, both are pretty short and Brothers has an interesting control scheme that makes it fun to play with a s/o
another fun side scrolling puzzle game is The Swapper, though that one gets stupid complex eventually.

puzzles and fantasy are on the other side though
though I'm finally starting the second new Tomb Raider (Rise of... came first to XBox One and PS4 a year later) and it does have a good amount of shooting but if you play on Easy it's mostly puzzles, National-Treasure style fantasy, good graphics and dumb b-movie story. that could be fun for you?

aka it's mostly boring and stupid.
they'll let you download the full game of Watch Dogs 2 and play it for an hour for free if you look it up on the XBox store, I did that and thought it was a significant improvement from the first but I haven't bought the full game, still feel too burned by the first.

the only good part about part 1 in my opinion, is you basically recreate new jack city in the final mission (these high tech drug gang uses the projects as a base of operations and you have to break in)
and the sound track
you unlock WUTANG CREAM at a cool part in the game

i'm with you. tv has been mind-numbing to me for the past couple of years. all i do now is video games, podcasts, and rap and cooking videos on YT

puzzles - definitely INSIDE if you're using limbo as a reference. same developers as limbo and it won several game of the year awards and runners up in 2016
racing - forza horizon 3. maybe the best racing game ever made. accessible enough for beginners and has a difficulty gradient that can make it appeal to racing sim enthusiasts. contiguous open world, several hundred cars, looks great, feels even better, multiple styles of racing (street, rally, and cross country). it's always online but the multiplayer is completely optional. i bought this game almost a year ago and i still play it a few times a week, slowly nudging my way up the time trial leaderboards
fantasy - i'm not quite sure what you mean by "fantasy" but i'm assuming it's something in the vein of open world power fantasy in a traditional fantasy setting like lord of the rings or dungeons and dragons
people seem to love the witcher 3. i haven't played it but it seems like it's heavy on narrative.
shadow of mordor has good action gameplay and a fantastic mechanic in the nemesis system in which you constantly fight a rotating cast of mini-bosses that get stronger or weaker based on the other mini-bosses you kill

Shout out to Skyrim cause you can do just about anything in that game.
Shadows of Mordor was amazing just for the nemesis system alone, had a lot of fun with that one.
Witcher 3 was one of my favorite games this gen. If you want to try the earlier ones check out Witcher 2 first. The first game is very dated at this point and you can use a youtube video to catch you up to date but I absolutely loved 2 and 3.

After reading your description of puzzle game preferences, you might not like The Witness, but I got sucked into it recently and thought it was interesting. If you liked Limbo you should check out Inside, their designers follow up. Are you hooked up to Xbox Live? Gold? It's worthwhile to keep tabs on the free games and deals and the smaller cheaper titles there are to download if you don't want to get too heavy into the big expensive games.
I'm of the mind that videogames are better than TV anyway. Withcer 3 is a definite recommendation, Rise of the Tomb Raider is solid too. I really enjoyed Child of Light for a simple, well crafted fantasy rpg world.

Up through Modern Warfare 2 in my memory it was pretty universally regarded as THE shooter (and it was only over time that it got a bad rep for BLOPS II because the game got way too popular and there were too many assholes playing the game and changing the culture around it). Now everyone makes fun of COD for pot leaf skins and racists and says its Battlefield or Overwatch if you're really 'bout it but especially in 2005 Call of Duty II was like the serious FPS campaign player's go-to and its multiplayer wasn't that much less popular than, idk, 1942 or whatever was king at the time. Call of Duty II and MoH: Allied Assault were the only PC shooters I ever owned a PC during their release, though, so I'm not totally familiar with how people looked at CoD pre-Modern Warfare but I feel like the sentiment was it was the premier campaign for sure.

Battlefield already shifted back to their historial shooter roots and COD is effectively late to the party doing that now, a year later.
And for the last two COD's that took place in the future, the original development COD team already had a MUCH superior version of those games in the Titanfall series when they left for EA. (although I hear as a singleplayer the last COD was a pretty good sci-fi rpg taken on its own)
COD's made a great dent in gaming and did great things to mature the console FPS space. Heavily customizable loadouts and the rpg upgrade system helped make console FPS's 'smarter' to play and as complex as their PC brethren when the trend was to make them simpler for consoles.
Like you said Modern Warfare 2 was arguably the series highlight with makes sense since it was the last time the original team worked on the games (although the first black ops did a great job of carrying the touch by the B team) before moving for Titanfall

In my defense - I think I just got my ps4 at the top of the year. CoD - IW came wqith it but I didn't play it for a while. I was all about GTAV. Rockstar started trying to make players 'buy' everything so I stopped fkn with it and went to CoD

Stay away from playing online because those racists on XBL are horrible people. If you see online multiplayer avoid it because they go hard with the enwurd.
Check their indy games and other stuff that isn't dudebro shooter.
Then again some people in hi tech like BigReg claim I'm a hater of all things Xbox so my perspective may not be the best one.

All things considered I think the momentum is on Xbox's side: if I had to recommend a new system to someone completely out of the blue id recommend an Xbox over the PS4 right now...EA Access a fantastic deal if you aren't a huge gamer, upcoming battlegrounds, plus the upgraded Xbox X is gonna drive prices down of the vanilla box to even cheaper lows.
PS4's been playing prettiest girl at the party for a bit too long, xbox is out there giving foot jobs under tables and loaning us their car
I even got my current game of forever, Titanfall 2 and Injustice, for the Xbone to start weaning myself off the foreigner system. #MAGA

you can Speech your way through most, if not all, of the game's main and side quests. it has the best writing, quests, and overall story arc. there is an entire discrete set of dialogue options if your character has 1 INT. it's still buggy but there are a lot of mechanical and systematic improvements from FO3. it's an amazing game and holds up very well once you get over the dated presentation

that said, it's still more fallout and fatigue may set in before you really get into it. maybe come back to it after you play a different style of game

FO4 is probably the best playing (meaning shooting and combat) and best-looking fallout but the gameplay options extremely limited. you can either shoot things with a gun to finish the quest or hit things with melee weapons to finish the quest. i think it's one of the worst games bethesda has ever made. don't play FO4
