"when did the hood start wearing Vans?" Fri Jul-28-17 12:58 PM by seasoned vet
i know Vans have been around what seems like forever. West coast cats and skaters always rocked them. Wayne rocked them heavily when he got into skating.
but recently ive noticed whole families from the babies to the parents all with matching pairs on. when did this start?
it is interesting to see Nike kinda fall out of that top spot after all these years

if I quote the stats/research the torches and pitchforks will come out but Dr. Boyce Watkins has spoke on the marketing appeal/approach somewhere on the web

You mean 2006.... thats when the song and video actually dropped..
Id say vans slowly hit the hood as skating hit the hood (again) 2007 or so... wayne, currensy, lupe, pharrell and them party like a rockstar kids helped usher em in..
But imo the post streetwear atheleisure era is when they kicked in the door all the way... if you arent in trainers (boosts, nmds, roshes) then you are in a jordan or a vulcanized sole shoe

**************** TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*
