Im full of nervous energy, I dont sleep well or enough next month makes 3 years of marriage, we're still figuring out how to make it work. it's crazy how connections in LA work, I'll meet someone at a function who already follows me on Twitter and they'll know a bunch of people who I need to know God willing I'll be well into writing a book and I'll have A&R credit on an album by the end of the year I've had a few good companies interested in my resume this summer but nothing has panned out yet the other shoe could drop at any point

one of my best friends is dating this woman and it really burns me up every time i think about it.
on one hand i want to be a good friend and hope it goes well despite how EYE feel.
but on the other hand i hope it fails miserably.
and its all because of how it went down. so this woman is a mutual friend of ours through a crew member's GF. and we both instantly wanted to chat her up. although my boy was too pussy to and somehow convinced himself she hated him. so whatever, closed mouth don't get fed, i'm going in.
and im chatting her up. i get her number. i think im good. so we're texting and im trying to line up a date but my schedule that week was FUBAR w/ work shit so i pitched something like a week out and i thought we had it locked in but then she backed out a few days before.
the next day my buddy gets a text from her out the blue. she got his number from our mutual friend. apparently she thought it was cute and funny that he was noticeably afraid to talk to her and she found that endearing. rather than him stepping to her like a man.
and i feel bad because it has brightened up dude's whole vibe and i don't want to shit on that. but im TIGHT every time he brings her up. this aint how the game is supposed to work lol.

And a tradition of mine is to reflect. Because you'll remember a lot of moments and times during your life, but your birthday is probably your best barometer. It's personal, it's yours, it's annual, and you can almost always remember where you were in life on that day.
Since 24 I've kept it super close to vest for my birthday. That year I had just moved to Houston in May and didn't really know too many people. Went out with Carlos, Juan, Jordan, and Charles a bunch of people that I was just loosely getting to know. Jordan and Charles ended up being groomsmen for me two years ago. The next day I took a ride to San Antonio, met up with people that I had kicked it hard with in college, and it was like it wasn't even my birthday. We went to some trash club and I ended up mainly hanging by myself. And since then I've only done super close friends and family.
And today. I just wish I had a one hitter pipe and a little bit of herb. Life is pretty good.

I mean, the date was set for my birthday 2 years from now, so. It's not really an issue (yet?). But it came out pretty genuinely in that conversation.
I've never been one to just suggest suicide, so I know it's a significant warning to myself. I know that I need to get over the hesitation and just enact some serious changes, regardless of what others might say or what might happen. Can't really crash and burn any harder than currently, so I might as well just do what I keep trying to argue myself out of doing.
So I'm leaving my current full-time job and bumping my part-time back up to full. I love my current job but hate the management. I dread going every single day. Like, struggle to get up. Then struggle to get out of the car. So it's back to the part-time. The people there really help. Some of them have become actual friends. And they're the kind of people who make me want to stick around and see what moves I can make in life. I've already made plans for a class with one of them. They make me want to step my game up. I didn't always need that but it's a huge help right now.
Sadly, my best friend is the opposite. And I hate to say it, but I don't think he'll get out of here, or out of his own terrible situation, any time soon. I think he does want to, he just doesn't want to do the work it takes. And I just can't let myself be around that. I need to be around people who want better. Is that selfish? I'm fine with that, if it is.
So I'm not really suicidal. I'm just at the very of my rope. I'm fighting tooth and nail though. I'm going to swing onto SOMETHING and keep going. Even if it's a weak ass vine that'll just hold me long enough to swing toward something more substantial, that is enough.

You seem like a really good person. Truth is, I perk up considerably when I see you post because in terms of type of personality, I feel a kindredness with you.
Many times in the past when you post it's like you beat me to it in terms of what I wanted to say. Just know there are many people rooting for you. Whatever demons/mental anguish you are facing - you CAN beat this.

Right now there isn't anything. It's just helpful for me to be able to come here and unload on Wednesdays. Even if nobody responds, it's just nice to put it out there.
I've been thinking about it all week, wondering just what another person could do for me if they wanted to help. And at this point, unless they could somehow make significant changes in my situation and circumstances... there is nothing. So I guess I kind of understand it from both sides now. You wonder why they didn't reach out or if there's something you could've done. But the truth is, after a while it's just not really possible to be comforted anymore. Either life gets more bearable or it doesn't.
All that to say... I fight every day. It's not as easy to find joy in little things anymore. But I find it.
