"I Little Brother'd the "I Used to Love HER" instr by Common lmao"
Y'alllllll omg
So I'm no producer or beat maker or anything, but I do know my way around a few DAWs and... Audacity.
Ever since I was 15 or so, I've messed around in Audacity to manipulate my favorite songs.
I did it to "Step Into the Realm" (looped the beginning so I can have kind of an "instrumental" of sorts)
I did it to Biggie's "Sky's the Limit"
I did it to other songs to hear how they sound Lou Rawls'd or Chipmunked..
and today, I did it to Common's "I Used to Love H.E.R.", my favorite hip hop song of awl time.
I bought the special edition/anniversary box set a few years ago with the instrumentals and I've always wanted to know how different the song felt without certain elements, i.e. the drums removed.
Well today, I sorta kinda not really pulled a Dilla - "Little Brother" and dropped IUTLH in Audacity and cut/paste all the parts of the song that the drums are quiet. I then pieced them together to get a very VERY choppy mocked version of the song. It doesn't sound ALL THAT great but it sounds pretty good IMO. I mean, it would've been really Little Brother'd if I had rearranged the pieces, but I'on got time for that.
Deennn what I done did was paste it to the beginning of the OG track to let it all flow together and I lost my mind! Maybe I should do something serious with this stuff one day haha.

because my reflex whenever the beat drops on this this song is to get prepared to start saying "Yes Yes Y'all...." And you took that away from me lol...
