"bible thumpers and the inability to "let go and let god""
lately I've been going on a lot of joint rides with friends and getting into the usual half cocked conspiracy theory discussions and all that.
let me preface this with the majority of us in these convos came up with the Greek Orthodox religion, some new testament(of course) some who only follow the old testament(but some how they all love Jesus...it's confusing)
So I have some friends who claim they believe in god and the creation and everything else(even though of course they never read the bible) but some how they also believe that the earth is flat now because thats whats hot now i guess...
the convo goes into Nasa being the devil and they're gonna use holographic images to depict aliens and we'll all have to unite...basically it ended with RFID chips which seemed insignificant considering THEY ARE TRYING TO STAGE AN ALIEN INVASION...but whatever right?
So my rebuttal(and mind you I don't really have an issue with the IDEA of religion, can get into that later) is if you believe God created the world in a week why can't you believe he made dinosaurs and the cosmos as well?
I know the answer is "leave those crazy fucks alone" but I wonder what you think.

Because you lead with "bible thumpers" then took a sharp left turn and rattled off a description of conspiracy theorists.
So your post is about conspiracy theorists, not "bible thumpers", because the critical thread in both the subject as you laid it out as well as the People you describe is the belief in conspiracies, not the bible. You basically shoehorned that into the mix.

and i'm describing it wrong.
basically they believe in the bible and use it to justify their under researched conspiracies...
So people believed for a long time the Christians suppressed science and the idea that the earth was spherical when dudes 1000 years before "the bible" had already calculated the circumference of the earth by measuring FUCKING SHADOWS, but this belief turned out to be a false narrative.
so the thing Rationalist supposedly held against Christians is now being used by Christians to prove Christianity(just add the devil, the devil made you think that etc etc)

Apparently.

Cool, so "Bible Thumpers" still doesn't fit the bill. You're talking about a subsect of a subsect here.
I don't know if that makes you a shithead. It just makes you a guy who writes completely misleading headlines that have very little to do with what you wrote in the body.
