"HR question....."
Mon Apr-10-17 09:20 AM by Ron Burgandy

Can a company resend an offer if they assumed you finished your degree even if the position doesn't require one?

I just went back to finally finish my degree but recently got a great job offer. Education never came up during the entire interview process....I'm afraid to tender my notice with my current employer even though it's been over a week since I received the offer.

You stay classy okayplayer!!

Are you saying you're scared to quit the current job because even though you meet the stated education requirements, you're afraid they want someone with a degree that you currently don't have?

Is that what you're saying?

You're working on the getting said degree though, right?

EDIT: Oh, you mean rescind? Man, companies can rescind offers for almost any reason.

You're such pests...now, what is it you want? In your depths of your ignorance, what is it you want? Well, whatever it is you want, I can't deliver because I just don't see it. - Orson Welles

Yeah, I meant rescind. I think I may be good because the position stated HS Diploma required....plus the hiring manager made it clear that she wanted me specifically for my experience....

If you did that and then they found out, via the pre-hire investigation, that you did not finish, then they most certainly can rescind the offer.

Don't matter that the job doesn't require one. It would matter that you (or whomever else) lied.

I didn't lie. We never discussed it. I filled out the formal app appropriately with all truthful information. I think I'm good, I just always worry about things like this.

Hate for you to get hired and have to live in fear of being "found out"...

OR, actually get "found out" and they try to pull a fast one and fire you for lying on your application.

Just do yourself a favor fam, put everything on frontstreet.

You didn't lie. There was no degree requirement. So you're good.

Even if you did tell them, I don't see how it would be a negative thing where they would want to rescind the offer
