"When Doves Cry & The Cross - Lenny Kravitz ('17 HOF tribute)"

I like how he made When Doves Cry his own
instead of trying to imitate Prince.
I never thought I would like any other
version of the song.
I also really like how his voice works
with the climax of The Cross.
Good tribute imo.

Also, John Blackwell (Prince's drummer)
is in critical condition. Here's his
gofundme page for anyone interested:

I like how he revamped WDC instead of the same copied versions. He caught the ghost a bit there too lol.

They rocked The Cross, too bad it was just a truncated verson (of both songs).

Craig got off on the guitar solo and Gail Anne Dorsey from Bowies last band was nice on WDC too

my homie was like 'did Prince make a mistake not having a choir on the original?' LOL

this is how Prince himself would do a tribute - meaning he would make the song his own as Lenny did here. Lenny turned 'WDC' OUT. it's a revelation. wow.

damn.

you gotta respect the fact that not only did he pay respect to his friend however also was feeling the spirit of it and you could tell he had so much going through him. the choir was a great idea and complimented everything nicely.

This sent me to bed. The Cross put me over the edge. I was gonna go to the ceremony but opted not to endure the other stuff that has traditionally gone on for hours and hours.

I'm heading to Paisley for the anniversary next week. Not ready but going nonetheless.

I finally saw this and was kinda underwhelmed. Lenny's guitar player is really good though. I just never liked his singing.

What REALLY impressed me was TI's performance of 'Keep your Head up'. Damn...he switched up all the flow and did it better than the original imo. I don't even know much about him but that shit was dope.
