"#beardgang...what products y'all using?"

I'd been using beard butter from Whipped Goods for the last few years, but she closed down the site and the products are no longer available. In searching for a replacement I realized that there's an entire industry of beard products available now - oils, balms, cream, etc.

I'm actually using some homemade whipped shea butter that my wife made for me now which is cool. But what products are ya'll using for beard care?

the homemade whipped shea butted is cool but it's tough to whip it into the light consistency that the Whipped Goods products had. That's a nice site in general that your boy has - I'm bookmarking it.

I always tell people of how I was 'supposed to go' to Poly. Was tested, accepted and all. But we lived in the county and moms wasn't going through the hassle of using another address, sending me across town on the bus, etc. So I went to Woodlawn

I was disappointed for 2 reasons:
(1) it was a Target purchase, which meant she prob bought it the day before at the Target right down the street
(2) I didn't like the product. The cream was too greasy and I didn't rock with the scent.

I just threw it away last week along with some other stuff I stopped using.

I wasn't using any product for my beard at all until Whipped Goods came out. I just let it grow. And getting Whipped was at first more about supporting an OKP who started her own business, but after trying it I loved the product so I rocked with it for years.

For me most of the basic hair products don't work well because they either leave buildup in my beard, or they aren't strong enough to actually tame it and keep it soft and manageable. But if regular stuff works for you that's great.

closest I've seen to Whipped Beard Butter, since it's base is whipped shea butter. It looks like it may be whipped to a light consistency like hers was...I'm gonna try it when I run out of the homemade stuff I'm using.

they have a nice beard wash, beard detangler and Beard oil and balm.
I have a full beard and I only need a dime sized amount of wash to clean it. Lathers nicely and smells good. The detangler makes it easy to comb. I haven't tired the oil and balm yet because I'm using this Cantu beard oil that my wife bought me for V-day. But I plan on getting the sheamoisture oil bc I like the scent of the line.

I've tried Beard Brand oils - didn't like them. Feels like regular jojoba oils with a scent added. Too thick and greasy.

I've also tried Koils by nature foaming wash, beard oil and beard butter. I didn't like this line either. The wash was too soapy, dried my beard out. The oil and butter smell like baby powder.

On special occasions I use Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille beard oil to match my cologne. Shit is expensive though, so I only use it on special occasions

dry scalp and eczema run in my family. My hair is long-ish (sponge mohawk). After washing my hair, I use coconut oil on my scalp, then my regular shit daily when I sponge it...no itching, flaking or anything.

but trying to get more informed.

what's the different uses for oils vs butter vs cream etc?

I guess I'm just looking for something to make it softer & if it can make it grow out quicker/fuller, that's cool too

I had a full beard for about 3 years. Cut if off this past summer.
Used a few different products over the years.

I think the oil vs. butter is a preference thing. I prefer oils in the summer time, as they are lighter and give your beard a nice shine and keeps the skin underneath moisturized. Butters can be a little heavier. I would use them in the winter months. The more whipped they are, the better.

Not sure if any of those products will actually promote growth. I think that's all determined by diet, regimen and genetics.

Its good to see that there are more beard products on the market and in places like Target and Walmart now.

except I don't use any products at all. I'm going to have to look through this thread and do some research this weekend into getting some product it seems. Moisturizing the skin under my beard is something I should look into.

I tried several of the products here but either the whipped texture was off, or I didn't like the smell. Coconut oil on it's own is fine for my hair, but for my beard if I use enough for it to soften it the coconut oil leaves it feeling kinda greasy.

So now I'm making my own whipped beard butter, using shea butter, coconut oil, and jojoba oil as the base and I've tried a bunch of different essential oils to experiment with the scents.

and I tried some on my beard. To me, all butters are about the same except the smell. I could prob use just whipped shea butter and be happy with it. The oils are different, in my opinion. Some are better than others, esp the scents.

I am growing my beard back for the winter just so I can use my Tobacco Vanille beard oil again. That shit smells great!
