There was this time that these extremely obese white homeless looking woman was struggling to cross the street as the lights changed on her. I considered for half a second stepping out in traffic to stop the cars as they were coming so she could safely crosss. I didn't.

If she were someone else I think I might have. Woman or Child of any color. Little old black lady.

I felt pretty bad that I did the snap judgement of determining she wasn't worth my life.

I’m sure my wife and kids would be perfectly happy without me as long as they know I died trying to cape up for a coworker because she happened to be a woman and archaic traditions demanded this of me.

I rid myself of that idiotic hero complex long ago so yeah… HELL TO THE NAH.

Of course, this is in a vacuum with no real context or scenario to inform my decision making.

So while I'm probably not one to dive in front of a spray of bullets, I can reasonably see myself not treating the situation as every man for themselves.

The question is whether men would give their life to save a female coworker.

So it's not just saving that coworkers life, it's about giving my life in order to do it.

If you’re a strong, independent woman, why should a man give his life for yours for no reason other than that you’re a woman?

Far as strong/independent, I was just following up on the other poster.

You didn't dispute it in your reply and said "that has nothing to do with saving lives" and I assumed that was something that's been established at some point.

So the header says coworkers/strangers but the body gave a scenario where the women in the office assumed the men would protect them.

Hence the gender element.

For coworkers and random strangers?

Is that your stance here?

And where is this Trump connection you're making? Or is that one of those things you just say but inevitably refuse to justify with any substance? Because the male/female aspect certainly didn't appear out of thin air and was present in the OP.

I try not to tell people what they should do. As far as substance, I find it difficult to have a conversation with you because you're always on defense. I don't come here to philosophize, rather get others point of view and then maybe share a laugh or two. Like, I think leg's and many others comments in this post were in jest...

it's not that serious...

>I try not to tell people what they should do. As far as
>substance, I find it difficult to have a conversation with you
>because you're always on defense.

So that’s how I’m “sounding real 45ish”?

Meanwhile I haven’t been defensive at all in here. I’m having a conversation. I haven’t attacked anyone or responded in a way that appears that I feel I’m under attack.

In fact… the only truly contentious moment in this exchange came from you when you said I/we sound like one of most reviled American public figures in recent history and I responded by……

…simply asking you to substantiate such a bold statement.

>I don't come here to
>philosophize, rather get others point of view and then maybe
>share a laugh or two. Like, I think leg's and many others
>comments in this post were in jest...

What’s the difference between “philosophizing” and “getting others point of view”?
If you truly wanted “other points of view”, why do you treat civil disagreement and a stated difference of opinion as “defensiveness”.

>it's not that serious...

Blech. If it’s “not that serious”, what’s the problem with simply having a discussion? If it’s “not that serious” why interject contentious statements like telling people, they sound like Trump of all people?

Defensive is this sort of response to a perfectly civil discussion.

Taking one for them means people in my life that are important to me are going to suffer, sorry. I wouldn't throw someone under the bus, though, or use them as a human shield or anything. You might catch a stiff arm if we're both going for a spot in the lifeboat.

Think i told the story before

I was in ihop waiting to be seated

He was in there arguing with some chik and her dude

Cop walked over and told him he had to leave

On the way out he sees me

I dap him up

I follow him outside to chop it up

We outside for bout 5 minutes and im like iight let me get in here before they skip me and seat someone else

Dap him up and walk inside

I'm at the door and he still out front puffin a square

this car pulls up

A dude gets out and walks right over to him and snuffs him

Dude doesn't fall right away but kinda grabs unto this bench out front

Dude continues to hit him and he's still holding on to the bench just getting stole repeatedly

He finally falls down and dude hits him one more time

Gets back in his car and dips

Whole time I'm at the door just watching the shyt

I mean it happened within a span of like 40 seconds

I cracked the door open and was like aye u iight?

He just looked at me, got up and walked to his car

I don't kno if he was stunned r dissapointed I ain't help

Needless to say I can count on 1 hand the people I would help put in that situation

Coworkers don't make the cut

another teacher got jumped on campus by two men who walked on the site and if i was there i'd have to do something to try to intervene. they didn't reveal a gun but one supposedly later said one of them had one. area police caught one off campus a bit afterwards.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*
