murder is a tough thing to digest.

somebody posts a murder on social media and the comments never fail. you got the

"my baby ain't never hurt nobody" folks

and the

"free my n*gga" crowd

going back and forth. sprinkled in there are people saying

"ain't nobody from outside bringing down the property value. It's these folk! Shooting each other and selling that crack rock and shit"

along with others saying

"fuck the police, they the reason why everything is messed up around here"

then captain obvious chimes in saying how there's a murder in the city every day. which is evident by the fact that he said the same shit yesterday in yesterday's murder post because well...there pretty much is a murder every day.

and you got conflicting agendas. on the one hand, when your peoples get killed, you want somebody to be held accountable.

but on the other hand, when it's your peoples that did the killing, you maintain their innocence even when the evidence & common sense clearly says they did it. and even after you break down and admit they did it, you still want them freed.

then there's the cooperating with the police angle. most of the time when somebody get murdered, everybody know who did it except the cops. some people won't tell cuz they fear retribution from the streets. others feel like it's not their job, let the police do what they're paid to do. then there's the I WON'T TELL THE COPS NOTHIN UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES...ION CARE IF A WHOLE PRESCHOOL CLASS GET SHOT UP, I'M NOT SAYIN NOTHIN people. when your mans get locked up, you hate snitches. but if your niece get killed, you want somebody to step up and say something.

ain't enough open minded people. as soon as the murder gets posted, you already know you gonna have x number of people taking this stance and x number of people seeing it the other way. and everybody always takes the same sides. not enough open minded people to say that the cat that ran up on the block with 2 glocks screamin fuck the world like 2pac and shot 2 cops kinda belongs in prison. maybe, just maybe, that street light camera that works any other time that all of a sudden don't work was either purposely disabled or them people just lying about it now working so they don't have to release the footage on the murder. not enough people treating each murder like its own unique incident and going off what happened there insteada drawing the same conclusion you have in every other murder.

i have no idea where i'm going with this post. it's just some shit that's been on my mind alot cuz somebody gets killed every day...

Back again for the first time.

I live in an area where bad dudes generally do bad shit to OTHER bad dudes, BUT they leave civilians out of it. My neighborhood is clean, fairly quiet, and you don't have to look over your shoulder to do everyday shit. BUT having said all that, there's still hoodlum shit afoot.

BUT, these dudes know how it ends, and I don't really think too many people mourn them when their number is up. I've seen the Hennessy/Teddy Bear shrines here and there, but ennh. I don't feel sorry for these dudes OR the dudes who get busted for doing criminal shit.

I can honestly say I've never really known any gangsters. ( Not real ones, anyway...)

i struggle with that. poverty is the biggest problem facing my people. so i'm always showing people apprenticeships and training programs and classes that'll set them up to be gainfully employed for a lifetime. get them out of the casino and out of the warehouse and out of the restaurants.

but people frustrate the hell outta me when they don't pursue good opportunities. i found this paid apprenticeship program that i pitched to a young man i try to look out for. he asked he how much it paid. i told him $10/hr. he said he wasn't interested because he makes $10/hr now. working as a helper for a guy that does home improvement. i couldn't get this cat to understand that an apprenticeship would lead to him learning a trade and being a plumber or carpenter or electrician. and they make a helluva lot more money than the guys they hire to be their helpers.

the world is moving on and alotta my people gonna get left behind...

Doing what you have done used to bring me some sort of joy. I mean... To bring and share knowledge with folks who could benefit the most from it. As time has passed, I find that less and less of these folks really care about getting in on the basement floor and working up to the penthouse (if you will).

It' so bad that I no longer walk into my house through the front door because I don't even want to interact with those that live in my direct area anymore. And what's even worse is that these are adults in the their mid/late 20s into their mid 30s.

All that to say... I struggle with extending myself any further than I do because it appears to be futile. And that's frustrating.

experienced. My nephew...sister's only child. I was talking to him about trying to attend a very well known tech. school here. They have automotive, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and machining. I went there for my automotive degree. I'm trying to explain to him how much weight the school's name holds and how an entry level job right out of school can turn into a career. Dude was like "naw, unc...cuz that time I'm wasting in school...I'm missing out on this money with Gerald n em doing foreclosed house cleanouts". Dude said for big houses they could make $75 cash as soon as they're done. I'm like, how many a week. "depends". So, best case, you do 5 a week and they're all big houses...you make $475 a week. BUT...ain't but so many houses and all of em ain't gonna be large ones and what happens when Gerald n em move on to something new? You left with nothing. Don't you want your own? "Yeah, unc...that sounds good, but I need this cash in my hands, now." SMH. Guess where he is now? In prison...hanging out with a dude he barely knew. They went to go buy some weed. What the dude he was with didn't tell him was that he was planning to rob the weed man. The jux went down, ol boy blammed the weed man. Police came and picked up nephew several days later like "we just want to talk to you". He never came back home. Days after that, police get into a shootout with the kid who killed the weed man...killed the kid. No one left but my nephew. Guess who got 11 years...after his time served? Yep. Now my sister is trudging up and down the highway, two hours each way, WITH his now 5 year old daughter whom she got full custody of. Would this have happened had he went to school and started a career...who knows?
