Like I see where 84 Lumber put out a statement saying they are all for legal immigration.
I am too. I see no problem enforcing our immigration laws. I think a wall is wasteful and stupid though.
At the same time, while I think people should do it legally, I realize the double standard this country sets with regards to illegal immigrants. You can't employ people under the table to enrich yourself then bitch about it when those same people want their share of the American dream.

I figure, there should be a tiered approach.
If you're illegal, commit a felony or any violent crime? Bye.
If you've been keeping your head down and just grinding? Pay a penalty, fill out the same paperwork as those going the legal route, accept some sort of probation and after a prescribed period of time, you're good.
And if you've been paying income tax for like x amount of years, the penalty is lower.

Isn't that decision somewhat contingent on the policy adapted going forward though? ie If you decided to completely halt immigration than complete amnesty is a more likely possibility? There could be a trade-off between policies dealing with those already in the states and those yet to come.

Recently one state actually offered unemployed people the option of working the types of jobs "illegal immigrants", not my preferred phrase at all by the way, work in order to earn a living. The result was none of the unemployed people accepted that work.
The status quo pre -Trump was great in that businesses got cheap/reduced cost labor and workers got to earn a living. Anyone supporting the wall or Trump is an entitled privileged piece of shit butt hurt someone else is feeding their family. Data and facts are firmly against the build a wall stance anyway.

potentially MORE expensive to work a low wage job. You work, you're in the system, Uncle Sam coming for them taxes, Affordable Care Act knows you're out there and now you gotta buy insurance or pay a penalty on THAT, that type of work might mean longer hours, then you might get hurt, then....then.... then....
It's easy to say "Oh, no Americans will TAKE these jobs" without looking at the full picture.
