"Do you remember your first chapter book?"

The first chapter book I ever read was Roald Dahl's Matilda. I still remember reading pages every night (way past my bed time) I think I read the whole book in a week. At 7, 230someodd pages was real!

I used to love reading...I think the last book I read was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I miss it sometimes. But I don't ever have the time or energy to keep my eyes open and my brain engaged.

was in second grade and it was a chapter book about Shaka Zulu from the library.
I got it with my very first library card.

First ever chapter book was probably something one of my older sisters had around the house.

and it changed my life. Such a weird coincidence. I had learned to read and decided I was gonna read 'an adult book' and I picked one out at the school library completely randomly.

I was in grade 2 or 3 and I begged my pops for hair grease and a leather jacket after reading it. He didn't indulge me....but he rented a vcr and the movie for my 8th or 9th birthday cause he knew how much it meant to me. I didn't even know there was a movie for it at the time. I think I watched it 10 times that weekend. It was absolutely central to my identity at the time and going forward. I wouldn't be the same person without having read it.
