Not sure how he thinks he can use this opportunity to do good for people. Assuming that's something he's about.

Shortsighted and childish. These folks are angry at *dialog*

I guess their plan is the grown-up equivalent of sticking their fingers in their ear and screaming at the top of their lungs every time someone they don't like tries to say something.

not much room for that type of approach to have been an option. He exercised a good amount of consistent political savvy in discussing Trump. He has an angle in this for sure.

I just remember Harvey n'em prank calling folks, talking about "aye, playa... I GOTS YA GIRL!" and arguing with folks on air. Last time I had a car was like 2009, so that's probably when I last listened to radio shows.

They always give vague answers when asked what the meeting was about.

Steve Harvey is hardly a good political representative for black folks. By going into this meeting as a rep for us, he's could give Trump legitimacy that he hasn't earned & doesn't deserve.

This goes for MLK III, Ray Lewis & unfortunately, Jim Brown.

There's a difference between appointing people of color to your cabinet and having token meetings with black celebrities whenever you get in trouble for saying something racist.

there's a certain commonality among trump supporters.

there's also a commonality among high profile black people that meet up with trump.

those two things alone are enough to have people giving SH the side-eye.

add to that SH's own background. people were already looking at SH sideways for quite a number of things. folk been feeling like he was full of shit for a while now.

it's not surprising that he had the meeting and the reaction ain't surprising either...

We don't want nobody to talk to nobody. We bitched and whined because president Obama ain't do enough for Black people. Now, SH gets asked by OBAMA'S team and Trump's team to come in and have a discussion about some things. Well, he does it with the thought and voiced intent of helping those who don't have the opportunity. For that, he's crucified.

Mofos don't know what they want nor who they want it from. They just know they want something. Damned shamed too because that man don't owe not one of our Black asses a thing. I'm not the biggest fan of his but I do appreciate his work. He's been working in the community with his mentoring programs for years while the rest of the bammas who are bammin' do nothing but sit home watching WSHH fight videos and remake "Bad & Bougie" for their kids to look at.

When Jordan supposedly NEVER spoke up or out or did anything politically or socially relevant, he was dinged. Now, mofos are out there doing something and still get dinged.

Trump taking office tomorrow and we still losing by shooting three point shots when only lay-ups are needed.

or even a Barry you are in their pocket. They give you something you gotta give them something. What they have to ultimately give up is their voice for their people.

Michael Jordan is a perfect example. He was better off not saying or doing anything.

Instead, we're (generally speaking) turning backs on him while wearing "Free My Dope Dealing Ass Cousin / Uncle / Brother / Mother" t-shirts.

The shit we deem as acceptable and necessary is gonna be the death of us.

If folks want to sit with them at their table then they have to accept subordinance to them.

I'm not knocking that approach, but I'm looking for the person that wants their own seat not some one else's they are allowed to sit in. I think as a group more black people need to start focusing on that because there aren't enough seats for even half of our population under the best circumstances in America.

I was rushing to get that out before I led a conference call.

In any event, he took the seat because he was asked to. I can't knock him for that. Would I have liked to see more appropriate and qualified Black professionals brought in to discuss housing and urban development? Hell yes! Maybe Steve is gonna realize that he isn't the most qualified and then builds a team of them now that a seat at the table has been afforded to him. Hope so!

It's hard for me question his motives when he's never done anything, that I know of, to display any issues with the movement and progress of Black people in this country.

If he is indeed being sincere...he's also an idiot ON TOP of the other shit.

Any meeting I had with Trump would have to come with the necessary caveat of not allowing it to be a press opportunity.

I don't want you coming down with me, I ain't taking no fucking photos...you want my opinion? They'll see me entering, they'll see me leaving, they won't see or hear me saying shit publicly.

Trump playing ALL of these fools.

If it doesn't fit Trump's agenda, he's not gonna pay that shit any mind anyway. So niggas go up there thinking they're opening dialogue when really they just a nigga to pose with so they can put up in front of other black folks so we can fall in line.

I feel like next time if he send another black person an invite to sit down, said black person should have Trump come to them. Cause right now it's looking like he picking niggas the field to come to the house.

The media has a lot to do with that, but still.

In response to Reply # 0

Did he reach out to the brother that got sucker punched?
Or the women that started to get death threats?

All at Trump rallies incited by Trump.

If the answers are no, fuck his feelings, since he apparently is too self interested to understand empathy or sympathy for others.

My man, Steve has been running mentoring programs for years to benefit kids from the hood. And just cuz we don't see them there, it don't mean they ain't there.

Again, I ain't the biggest fan of the brother's but let's not believe the brother is not involved at all on other levels.

And still, I don't understand the hate. He didn't walk outta there shuckin and jiving and telling us that The Donald was the best thing since freedom was dangled in our faces.

Just a hypothetical. Instead of Harvey, what if Trump invited someone that we know would ride for us? Do y'all think there would still be an issue with them meeting with Trump?
