"I wrote a hard-R-rated Hungry Hippos script."
I've talked about it for years, but I decided this week might be the right time to share it with the world. If you're looking for a distraction this week, please give my very violent, very silly movie script a read. And if you like it, please tell your friends to read it as well.

Yeah, there's some overlap in the "animals trained to be solider killers" bit, haha. Otherwise, these are just straight up animals, not anthropomorphic in any way-- though anthropomorphic giant animal assassins *does* sound pretty badass, lol. I'll seek it out!

and if you won't answer, that's fine, but I'm curious nonetheless. Given that you use your government name as your URL, who or what is a Frank Longo?
**edit**
To keep my response to this thread someone related to what you posted, is this a parody of Battleship being made into a big budget flick crossed with a parody of those Sharknado flicks?

Frank Longo was an alias I used in high school. My friend Adam (the man who introduced me to OKP!) and I were at a student film festival and saw a film directed by Frank Longo and starring Chet Dixon. We thought those names were hilarious, so we started using them as aliases. I made it my screen name here after my original one got lost to time with a defunct password and email combo. No Charter Member status for me anymore. Sigh.
As for this, yeah, Battleship's announcement of production definitely inspired this. I talked about it at parties for years, just improvising new scenes, shit I wanted to see in a super-violent Hungry Hungry Hippos movie. Eventually, I sat down and wrote it. It was one of the easiest scripts I've ever written as a result-- the final draft doesn't have too many drastic changes from the original.
I actually have a problem with some of those Sharknado movies, because I think they're made cynically by people who think that movies like this are fucking stupid and so the whole thing is non-stop winking at the camera. I tried to still give these characters arcs, craft actually creative and exciting action sequences, draw some strong visuals, etc. I grew up watching those made-for-SyFy monster movies with my brother, and even though most of them are obviously crazy low budget, you can definitely feel the difference between the ones that were made from love. Hopefully my love for the idea of a violent hippo attack movie comes through here, haha.

Pretty brave on your part of give folks here your government name, but I guess my opinion is based on my overall cynical outlook on life in general.
Somewhat related to what you said about those Sharknado movies and winking at the camera and such, how do you feel about those Crank movies Jason Staham was in years ago?

Especially the second one-- I liked the first, but the second is a classic in my book. I think those dudes, Neveldine and Taylor, are batshit crazy-- which makes their movies brilliant for the most part.
