**************** TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

Much better than expected and highly recommended. This was good enough to get a widespread theatrical release. The lead actor Devon Terrell absolutely nailed this performance. This movie didn't even NEED to be about Obama specifically. It's a very nuanced and balanced study of identity. I would love to see a conversation about it a la book club style. So many little touches that I thought were very interesting. For example....Barry's uneasiness about his mother's love of the film 'Orpheus Negro'. The movie encroaches on uncomfortable territory that's really interesting imo and doesn't retreat into cliche or over-simplified racial analysis. I can't wait to talk to my SO about it because of it's consideration of bi-racial relationships.
I was also kinda surprised how much I related to the main character, whether he is an accurate portrayal of Obama or not.

They did a great job with this movie. Dude who played Barry killed it.
