I recently relocated got a cut showed the barber a picture of me with the cut I wanted. When we were done he fucked it all up and had the nerve to ask for $20 gave him $10 told him he didn't do what I showed him. Didn't trust him to go back and fix.
They try to keep you long so you can come back in two weeks. If I say bald fade and I can still pull my hair there's a problem. On some scam shit.

First week of class after XMas break...and a new barber I went to fucked me UPPPP. Main barber was on vacation. This dude pushed my bars baaack, way way way back, and it wasn't even.
Got back to school, and I had a hood on my head inside of the hallway. Walked to the usual crew of all Black homies, and immediately, one said "why you got a hood on? You NEVER wear a hood or a hat, what happened?" I told him I'm cold, he's like "Nah, it ain't that cold....what happened????" and he just pulls my hood off. They allllllll started roasting.

I usually bald my shit but if I have a function or interview I want my shit tight.

switching up (competent) barbers. a lot of ppl who have barber issues put sh*t like convenience and location over their hair. once you find a barber you can work with (everybody's head shape, hair type, etc is different. gotta give them a couple shots), you gotta stick with him

but
when it comes down to getting a line up if the line is done technically perfectly it always comes out fucked up and uneven so the line has to be cut to be optically perfect but not technically correct.
that said...once i started getting haircuts again I went through about 10 barbers in 3 years to find the right one.
the biggest problem facing barbers is really efficiency
like...if you say I can come through at 12 and if I have to sit on my ass for nearly 2 hours for chair time then thats a major L.

the only time I had a problem with a barber was back when I was like 19-20 and homie was the only open chair. He nicked me a couple times and decide to touch up my eyebrows for some reason... next time I cut my hair cut, same situation. I went in to see my normal guy, but he was busy. So ol dude took care of me again. This time he didn't just nick me a few times, he cut me all around my line and did the eyebrow thing again. Never sat in his chair again.
And now, the same guy has been cutting my hair for like 6-7 years.

They're like ball players. They have an ill jumper? They'll fall back on it every time, even when the situation dictates they need to pass inside. You ask for a cut and specify, they give you what they're comfortable with or what they think will impress you (Philly barbers were NOTORIOUS for this), when all you wanted was the cut you asked for.
Plus, by and large, most of this generation haven't held down 9-5s or have an understanding of proper client service. I remember going with my dad as a youngster to an old school black barber shop that was a lot like Clarence's - but they were efficient. Some barbers nowadays view themselves as either complex artists or hustlers, so unless you're their mans or a longtime customer, you're just another head helping them make their chair rent.

that's kinda on you bruh
granted barbers do freestyle cuz niggas ask for impossible and/or ugly shit but it's a balance between ones work/art and the customer's request but it's not hard at all to bald out a fade that wasn't originally balded

I've been sitting here forever while dude got one person in the chair. He keeps stepping out and coming back. He called me up to the chair to tell me about a fight he had this weekend, then shows me the gun in his drawer talkin bout they lucky he ain't have it on him while he was out.
I need this cut today though so imma just sit here and question my decision.
