"My boss hasn't been in the office in five weeks. " Mon Oct-24-16 03:28 PM by MEAT
Five. No notes to staff either like "I'll be working out of x office and can reached at x" I'm kind of at a loss. Because there's a lot of things in doing and can do that without an overall framework can't work. His boss is occasionally here and that guys boss also. But my boss? Nah.
Edit to clarify. I physically haven't seen him. He's working somewhere in this country, at some hours, in some office, for some duration of time. None of which anyone on his staff can tell you. I assume that he's at least told his manager, but I have no clue.

But if you need to reach him. Good luck. He'll call/reply back ok a day or so if at all. But he hasn't physically been here in five weeks. And that week it was only two days.

And some of which is to be done I've done it for him. He needed to go to Chicago, I went in his place. Twice he's needed to send out a national email, I wrote it for him. So those are some tasks, but the totality of his job; I couldn't tell you. And to make it worse. When I say I haven't seen him in five weeks, I've only been in this job a little over two months.

was when i reported to someone that was out of the office ALL THE DAMN TIME. long story short, in a 6 month period they had 90 days where they didn't log into any databases or send a single email.
eventually somebody snitched and i get a visit from a big wig wondering what's been happening the last 1/2 year. i spoke on everything i had accomplished which ended up being my job and most of the no-shower's job.
when asked why i never said anything about the MIA colleague, i reminded the big wig that this was my 1st time meeting them. so if i had a concern, where would I send it? i just said I wasn't sure what was going on and i knew the show had to go on so i showed up to work everyday and got shit done.
easiest promotion i ever got in my life...
*** I ain't lyin. This shit i'm making up is true...

But today he brought in(?) an engineer ahead of me. I put the question mark because he just said that I we need to include her on all communications going forward, but she hasn't reached out to us, she's not physically here, and her on paper qualifications for the job she's going to be in are just not there.
So we'll see. But I've spent the last two months building up a system of things that should've been in place in the first place. And we'll see if either of them supports or dashes that.
Edit: And I just looked her hire date. 1987. If she's not Greenbelt certified at this point and taking on a lead role, we're fucked.
