The whole point of him going public was to deter bad actors from murking him (along with ensuring the uncensored leak to mass audiences, of course). If something suspicious were to happen to him -- that will only increase suspicion about govt. foul-play -- so "they" (if we're assuming some nefarious branch of shadow govt. wants to off him) actually have incentive to ensure that Snowden remains secure - to preserve their cover.

But there are a long list of folks that deserve pardon and I am unclear as to why Snowden would deserve any priority over others. But if Obama is in a giving mood, sure why not.

when he was chillin in Hong Kong he got at least 5 credible asylum offers
but instead he flew the coop to that great defender of individual rights, that paragon of democratic governance, that bastion of internet freedom, that tolerant of LGBT rights regime, that respectful of other countries sovereignty and borders
FOH Snowden, you need more people

They should be mad at their government and it's behavior, especially after 9/11

NDAA, Patriot Act, no due process in Guantanamo, torture, unauthorized phone taps and telephone records collection, forcing companies to have a government backdoor into their products, Hillary Clinton and Dick Cheney's Kissinger approved bullshit intervention and regime change nonsense for corporate interests

Black women are a disproportionate amount in the military compared to general population, her policies as SOS are causing more deaths in the black community that could be prevented

is because it simply & plainly spells out the govt. abuse and overreach. I ask a lot of people about Snowden and whether he's a patriot or a traitor (or none of the above) - and approximately half of them tend to have a strong opinion on the matter without really even understanding the fundamental elements to his case.

Once people do get a chance to really delve into the facets of what he exposed - they tend to think what he did is not only a good thing in terms of serving a compelling public interest - but also something that if litigated - could prove to be in accordance with constitutional principles.

I've read up on it - he doesn't deserve a pardon. But he shouldn't be executed either, clearly. A conviction with time considered served after a short stint in actual custody (minimum security/country club level) sounds right to me. he's been on the run for long enough.

fuck you.

What would you gather is an appropriate sentence for Snowden?

I personally would like to see him return home just to see the court process play out. I'd love to see this case litigated and think it's a necessary matter to adjudicate so that our jurisprudence has a chance to reflect on these types of cases moving forward. That said, If I were Snowden I wouldn't gamble on that and would likely stay right where I am with my girlfriend in Russia. He would almost certainly be convicted.

Like Martha Stewart.

But no trial - he would get that via a plea. After trial the sentencing recommendation would be more harsh. Bc the govt has interest in not giving him a platform during a trial. Lol.

Like to see someone counter this article.

http://www.newsweek.com/edward-snowden-undermined-war-terrorism-edward-epstein-539066

Key quote for me "Both NSA and FBI officials have testified that PRISM helped thwart at least 45 terrorist attacks between 2007 and 2013, including a plot to put high explosives on the subways under New York City’s Grand Central Station and the Times Square subway station at rush hour."

My sincere question, how exactly are we better off with the PRISM program gone?
