I hope this movie does 100m domestically. I know it's a black movie but Fences is probably the most well-known black play that wasn't a musical. We need a movie that's not a musical or comedy to get that gross. Not to mention, the critical acclaim at its time was crazy so.....there should be a built-in audience from the play.

I'm there first day like it was a Marvel movie. I can't wait til they get to King Hedley.

Viola is gonna win Supporting Actress no question.

Denzel is a lock for lead. Whole cast needs to be nominated to be honest.

The framing of shots and rhythm did not make this seem like 2 and half hours.

I saw elements of myself, my father and mother, siblings and cousins and my friends in every character. Viola's performance helped me understand the women in my family, specifically my sister better.

I went to a late show and sat on the couches at the Landmark in Westside LA. Did not know how long it was, and the movie flew by for me.

Listen to him talk about August Wilson's line about "Bonnie Working" at roughly 7:29

http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/denzel-2

Yo, that rhythm he falls into with that line. Yooooo,

...I accidentally walked in on it being played at an aquaintence's house (he somehow had a screener copy I guess).

I was so engrossed I made him play it from the beginning, which everyone in the room didnt seem to mind so much.

It IS a lot, but the heavy stuff is counterbalanced perfectly (if not by your take on the narrative, at the very least by the awe and inspiration the performances elicit).

in a theater. Wish there were more people in the theater when I saw it.

It's the closest I will get to seeing those actors perform the material on a stage with a live audience.

It was a amazing.

Viola will win only if she's nominated as supporting actress. if she's up against whatsherface she's going to lose out. i hope to be wrong about that but i don't see any movie beating La La Land b/c it's going to give the white ppl who live in LA and dominate the Academy's voting membership a chance to vote for a movie about themselves.

The fact that he could easily have said excuse me seemed to make that clear. That's what anyone and everyone would say in that situation. Corey wanted out of that house.

However, I kind of felt like Corey was a bit miscast. He's a big time football player, but he can't take his 55 year old father? I can't decide if they miscast the role, or if Corey was holding back because he couldn't bring himself to grease his father.
