It really is hard for artists out here (especially females) who dont write their own records...
She lost what 2 records to Rihanna.. burned her bridge with Bobby Brackins and Redwine (2 On).
She just has to surf for a hit.. and these days if Rihanna doesnt take then its going to Selena Gomez because she can still pull off those rihanna records w/o sounding sooo rihanna-y
She's got all the components of a star though.. If they can catch that one record she'll be here for a while

and she did really well in it because she's kind of a nerd and definitely an overachiever. all the right moves and looks are there but it feels learned rather than natural and so it feels very forced at times. this time, for example
even when she was singing '2 on' i didn't believe that she partied that hard. she was probably practicing dance moves and vocal techniques while everyone else was out getting wasted
she's very pretty and obviously talented but something just isn't clicking for me with her. everything i've heard from her just rings false

She's a pretty girl, but the oozing sex appeal isn't there enough for her to be doing something like this.
The "Player" video where she just danced w/o trying to be sexy was pretty awesome (and ironically, the sexiest thing she's done, imo). She's more attractive when she's showing her talent and being natural.
She has that Janelle Monae energy to me... whom I love to life, but anytime she's ever tried to "do" sexiness, it kinda fell flat. Everything about her is more attractive when she simply delves into her imagination and shows her talent, despite her being ridiculously pretty and well-made. Same with Tinashe. They just don't have overtly sexual energy to me.

I don't see why they are trying to push her that route.

She sings well enough, is attractive and can dance. Basically has all of the makings of a decent popstar but she just doesn't pop for me. Maybe there's not much of a lane for her right now with Rihanna and Beyoncé dominating everything.
