"Poll question: cord cutters. how do you entertain guests?"

do you hand them a custom manual and a pair of diodes to figure out?

you change all the channels for them?

or is your setup bullet proof?

Damn near everybody uses Netflix, and the app looks and works the same on everything so it should be easy for people to pick up and use.

Cable on the other hand, you have different interfaces for different companies, boxes, etc. Im a techie person, but when I would go to my families place that had Direct TV and a different remote I felt like a newborn fuckin baby god.

i like the option of parking the in-laws (and other loosely related people) in the living room and going on about my business.

young adults (nieces & nephews) also get parked in front of the tv at times, though they may opt for a video game.

do you have a main television or are all shows in your house watched on a laptop/computer monitor?

None of my relatives live close enough to be coming by like that. Any family coming to visit is crossing multiple states and likely staying in a hotel. So I'm almost never in a position to have to turn over the tv/sound setup to anyone.

I was thinking more like having friends over or something. I put one some music and let it rock unless there is something in particular going on (Playoffs?) to be watching on tv.

basically the host's Roku player was the main source of entertainment. the situation worked for the most part too. ended up exploring Netflix quite a bit. other times we just got caught up in deep conversations and tv wasn't even necessary. only had an issue when I wanted to watch football, but to resolve that we just headed out to a local bar...and watched like 4 games at once. ha.

do users still have to go to the fire tv setting menu to start it up?

or you watching it on your laptop primarily?

You figure out which add-ons work (and there are a thousand forums to help), which have consistent content, and roll with it.

Honestly, like someone said above, Netflix is really enough. Kodi fills the gap if you don't want to lose sports and movies.

Television access on 4 tvs.. $175 sound right?
Literally everything from all the HBO, Showtime, Stars, Cinemax, TMC etc.. lets say $150
NFL Sunday Ticket one time - $360
NBA League Pass one time $200
PPV UFC, Boxing, Wrassling (lets say $100 month)

Most any and every movie, both new and old.
TV shows, new and old.

It's like this super huge labryinth you have to jump through to watch the most basic of shows

Tried to watch that new Blacc Chyna/Rob Kardashian show LIVE the other night....no dice

like, where the fuck is the simple ass channels?

Is this shit really worth $70 a month?
i got a bunch of them shits on my box
Kodi
Modbro
and like 3 others

only thing I can consistently and easily find are sports cause I go to livesports and sports.net or some shit like that
i always pick up feeds from yugoslavia or greece
has every soccer game known to man
but saturdays and sundays i can generally find 5 to 6 different feeds of every American football game out there

I've been fucking with Kodi since it was called XBMC and random plug ins have always been hit or miss. Some have become way more consistent but it's always a dice roll. I just download whatever I can't stream and use Plex now.

I don't even bother recommending the sticks to my family cause I don't wanna be getting phone calls about their streams not working 24/7.
