I'll be backpacking from 7/2 until 7/7, who else in here?

Well I could barely check email and connect a few sites but even the free wi-fi in the villages is super spotty.

Did a 30 miles hike starting in Tuolumne Meadows with a Halfdome stop and then down to the valley.

I think you mean angel's landing

the most shook I've been on a hike.

the warning signs are a mindfuck too

I almost turned around, but a hiker coming back encouraged me to keep going

I'm glad I did

but yeah, terrifying

i've been to Zion before, but never did those hikes. i can definitely see how they would bother some people. thru rock climbing, i've learned how to listen to and control my fears, so this kind of stuff is a walk in the park, but still fun.

need a disconnect

I'm assuming this wasn't your first trip, based on no tunnel view photos...?

+1 for the waterfalls

I've been a couple of times, but the waterfalls were dried up.

I went on a trip run by REI where we had two guides. I didn't get any photos at Tunnel View because I arrived in the park on July 2nd and it was 100% JAMMED with traffic. All spots were taken and it took about 2.5 hours to get from the line at the gate to the Yosemite Valley lodge (formerly Yosemite Falls Lodge.)

I was super focused on the hike and really didn't "enjoy" the park the day I arrived or the day after, but the hike itself had some great views.

I should have taken more photos, but I was so tired I kept forgetting to. (You can see I'm a big guy and the backpack with the bear canister AND a tent AND sleeping bag AND sleeping PAD and Camelback AND clothes AND then the altitude - let's say my brain was going a little slower than normal.)

once during winter, and once during summer. winter obviously has very few people, but most of the roads are closed, and most of the hikes become much, much harder. plus you're dealing with freezing temperatures, but there's something about seeing a national Park during snow time. also, fyi, Mariposa Grove is closed until 2017.

That's crazy cold man.

I might go once more near the end of September - I'd love to do the Upper Yosemite Falls hike, and the Four Mile trail.

it doesn't snow while i'm there, but there is still massive amounts of snow, and temps only get as high as 40-45. 10-15 at night. the upper yosemite falls trail is strenuous during spring-summer-fall, but downright treacherous during snow packed winter months, as you can easily lose track of the trail, which becomes fairly slippery (i had to crawl on my knees and needed to use a branch as a pick to keep going). but the positive is there are very few people.
