"Hypo: You're on a nearly empty commuter bus in a window seat"
An average looking person (that is to say, not exceptionally creepy appearing, whatever that means to you, nor particularly attractive) foregoes all the empty rows of seats to sit right next to you.
This is a commuter bus so you'll be riding for at least 45 minutes.

I'll sometimes sit with someone (female preferably) on the bus despite other empty seats because I know that the next stop will be chock full of sweaty, dusty construction workers filling up the seats.....

if it did I would think I was on punk'd or something. I'd ask them if they wear contacts, and say maybe they need a new prescription or need to go to the eye doctor if they can't see all the empty seats. Then if they didn't move I would tell them move or be moved.

and not worry about it. If I'm the one with the problem, or I just feel like being in my own space, then I'd get up and move but offer the explanation why. Not because I have to, but it's just the polite thing to do.

and move to another seat.
this has happened to me many times, mostly in chicago. the person has always been crazy. it had gotten so bad that i stopped sitting in the window seat.

obviously they want that seat more but I hate that shit. And it happens on the train a lot, ppl will sit RIGHT next to someone when it's full seats everywhere. So damn annoying. This happened to a lady across from me on the train recently. IT was so much open space but this lady squeezed in between the lady and the door (that spot by the bars) and the lady goes "ALL THESE SEATS why are you sitting right beside me?" the lady was like oh i'm getting off at the next stop BUT that still didn't explain anything because the spot on the other side of the door was free too. and no one was there at all.
