"rock rap I hate you"

these dudes in the warehouse listen to white radio since they fired the black guy who listened to the urban radio.

first off, white rock radio sucks too... same shit every hour with a few old hits thrown it.

but man... this rock rap shit. I rap the verse and scream over the chorus.

what is worse than rock rap? lemme know.

One of my co-workers listens to the Top 40 Hits Of The 70's And 80's station every day. They have the exact same playlist throughout the day every day for any given week. I think I've heard Band On The Run at 1:45 PM every day for the last 6 months (seriously). Funny thing is, I don't mind it at all. It's really quite pleasant, dare I say good, music.

and my co-worker plays 80's music. Madonna's Borderline plays 3 times a day but that's my shit.

I tried to sample Toto's Africa a few years ago, heard it the other day then flipped to the urban station and they were talking over that sample.

Always wondered why no one used it.

maybe we should post jack this into rock samples that shoulda been used for hip hop songs.

funny story. we were in NYC and my boy noticed him at a cafe and ran up on him and introduced himself... then he just stared at him.

usually he goes into PR, marketing mode, nuthugs and gets into a convo, about music and finds a way to parlay it into a meeting or at least gets contact info.

but he just stared...

Zack looked at him like "anything else to say?"

nope. just stared.

RATM is not an acception imo. Good guitar playing that sounds like Black Sabbath except accompanied with horribly generic drums and bass playing. And very, very bad raps.

I loved Anthrax/Public Enemy when I was a kid....but I don't need to even revisit that to know it was awful too. Anthrax had a song called 'I'm the Man' which might be the first of this genre. I can't believe how much I used to like this when I was 11.

You had a bunch of dudes who def. who shouldn't be rapping, along with a bunch of established bands switching their style up looking like Beverly Hill's Most Wanted. It was their jiggy era.

That said, there were some legit records to come out of there, but 95% of it was just...boring. Shit was like the soundtrack for the kind of douchebag who now wears'Tapout' t-shirts and intentionally drop weights at the gym

I liked 311 and Limp Bizkit. Then I discovered hip hop and realized that stuff was not very good. 311 can still be a guilty pleasure though. I'm listening to Limp Bizkits Significant Other right now for the first time in like 15 years, and yeah its pretty awful. How the fuck was Nookie a hit song?

Some programmed beats here and there, and April 26th had rapping on it, but they are not a rap rock band

Linkin Park has evolved and still tops the charts. Other than that band no comment. Trik Turner had a run and by a run I mean a hot song.

Sidenote: some of the popular bands from that era aged gracefully. For example Blink 182 evolved their angst into contemporary angst with a hinge of responsibility:

You can't tell me this song isn't a reflection of their fans growing up and having kids. This is some vintage J.Cole six months after graduation struggle.

Songwriting is pretty good as you said, but the music is pretty generic

Definitely lacking in energy to me

a whole lot more than the rap-rock genre. Holy shit, that shit used to send me into fits of blackness and rage.

Also whatever the name of that Primo joint that Linkin Park/Limp Bizkit (whatever, i don't remember which) had annoyed the fuck outta me too. Like the song was a Method Man track produced by Premier and happened to feature Durst.

for which they were the only hip hop group they liked. Not their fault....but it was true. And annoying.
