""In Common" - Drake-y/Weeknd-y A.Keys"

Not a great song but several steps in the right direction away from the stiffness and yelling.

A.Keys could be classic if she stayed on some low-key atmospheric stuff. No more stiffness and yelling.

Alicia Keys Has Too Much ‘In Common’ on New Song
She's appearing on 'Saturday Night Live' this weekend
brianjosephsBrian Josephs // May 4, 2016

R&B and pop superstar Alicia Keys is expected to drop her first studio album since 2012’s Girl on Fire this summer, and she’s just released the LP’s lead single, “In Common.”

The new song finds Keys blending her voice with today’s popular sounds, mixing tropical atmospherics with icy drum patterns. The latter makes sense because it’s produced by Illangelo, who’s behind the Weeknd’s mixtape trilogy and Drake’s “Crew Love.”

Give “In Common” a listen below. Keys will perform on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, so look out for the song’s debut live performance in just a few days.

It does sound like a song either of them might make,
but it's not a sound that belongs to either of them.

As far the song itself goes, it's not bad.
I'd dance to it.

take care

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zzP29emgpg

and the article said the producer did Weeknd's trilogy:

"Illangelo, who’s behind the Weeknd’s mixtape trilogy"

Whoa, very similar to Drake's "take care" yet Illangelo created a whole different thing than the Weeknd trilogy sound.

rather strange

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

It's certainly been evolved etc... but the direct line from Jamie XX and even Switch (Major Lazer 1.0) and UK producers repurposing/reinterpreting dancehall for pop consumption is a number of years in the making... and obviously the explosion of Tropical House has made the market ripe for it..
