"Poll question: The way you usually evaluate a "yes""

I watch a lot of "Divorce Court" on youtube.

From that, you can see how many folks jumped at a "yes" because they probably thought a "yes" was hard to come by.

then, you see how many people said "yes" but it was a very shaky "yes" that probably should have been evaluated in that light.

Then from that recent post about what advice we would give to our 21 year old selves, regretting letting someone go was a pretty common response.

So....

What's been your attitude about "yes"? How do you respond to "yes"?

Poll result (0 votes)
Intense: a "yes" is so rare, I better be serious about it (0 votes)Vote
Casual: a "yes" can be so shaky, I better not put too much weight on it (0 votes)Vote

Do you mean a "Yes" to a marriage proposal? Accidentally getting caught in a Daniel Bryan chant?

"Divorce Court" is a thing that adult humans watch, is it? Is watching other people's broken lives get torn apart for our entertainment seriously what's hip on the streets these days?

How ghastly.

I'm holding out for our moral fiber to fray just a tiny bit more so someone can finally manage to merge the Deal or No Deal format with the US Adoption Service. Ratttiinnnggzzz.

What question is the "yes" a response to? Are you specifically asking about a marriage proposal, or was bringing up Divorce Court just an example? Are you talking about the evaluation of someone else's "yes" response to any question we've asked?

I don't get it.

Divorce Court and the OKP 21 advice post - but "yeses" are in a lot of situations: ex: job offers, etc.

But Trinity444 could get the gist and I'm sure it wasn't tough for her to do it

evaluation has already happened before asking. For example, when proposing to my wife - I already knew what the answer would be. We had already discussed aspects of our life together and were on the same page. So I knew the answer would be yes, and I knew the thought process behind that answer. IMO, if I didn't know that answer, or know why her answer would be yes, then I wasn't ready to ask that question yet.

But even in other situations - I'm pretty measured about asking those types of questions to the point that my evaluation of a yes answer has happened before the question was asked. Whether it's on both sides of offering a job, or discussions with business partners, or with decisions that my wife and I are making together.

"what talk? "

when someone ask their SO to get married I'm pretty sure they both expect it to be forever.

however, people change so even if the yes was a HELL YES all it takes is a few years of living with someone to realize they shoulda said "nah"

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Not saying there is any way to be certain about most things...

but....

this is more like:

are you inclined to be an "eager beaver" about the "yes" because you want the relationship/job/etc. so much

or...

are you usually (not saying always) hmmmm......"let me kind of 'scrutinize' this "yes" for a minute....."
