"Poll question: Greatest Celebration of Unchecked Whiteness"
it's good ol' St. Patty's Day Weekend again! the annual holiday weekend where non-white ppl in Chicago, Boston and NYC (maybe Savannah too?) who don't have white friends stay as far the fuck away from the festivities as possible b/c...well, yeah. look, plenty of us just get uncomfortable around large groups of extraordinarily drunk white ppl b/c the shit starts to feel like a Trump rally once the intoxication hits a tipping point. it's only a matter of time b4 someone starts throwing racial slurs and then we either gotta fight or flee and either way the good time has been blown and it's like...why bother w/that risk? it's probably best for all involved if we stay away so the whiteness can flow unchecked w/o worry that we'll have to regulate somehow.
i'm generalizing like hell and not speaking for all non-white ppl who don't have white friends. but...yeah. so anyway, considering all of that - which of the holidays is the greatest celebration of unchecked whiteness? on which of the holidays does the whiteness flow w/greatest temerity?

Columbus is close, but not as big.
Mardis Gras/Cinco De Mayo tends to have more minorities, and the vibe feels a bit different.
But Paddy's has that unite like Voltron BROSEF power that it's scary. If 5 dudes mollywopped someone into a coma during Mardis Gras or Cinco De Mayo id be like, "Damn, that's fucked up...what's wrong with people today".

As a professional barfly I never even understood the appeal after a certain age. It's harder to get a drink, they tend to all be shitty, the odds of you getting laid are low since everyone's cliqued up hard, conversation consists of lame sports cliche's, and you don't even get a day off. What a shitty holiday.

during St. Paddy's to understand why there's no comparison to any of the other holidays.
like here in Chicago - there will be 2 parades this weekend and each will draw over a million spectators. the river will be dyed bright green as part of one of the parades. the partying will start tonight and continue through next Thursday. it'll all peak this weekend but next Thursday will be pretty large too. but as for this weekend - the drinking and reveling will start tonight and pick up bright and early tomorrow. i've regularly seen ppl shit-faced by 7am on parade day - especially when the weather has been warm and there's no rain.
and that's just Chicago. it takes over all of the parts of the city w/large populations of white ppl (Chicago is like 30/30/30 white/black/Latino). the same scene exists in Boston, NYC and Savannah - those are probably larger celebrations than even Chicago's.
Halloween is a big event here too but not on the scale of St. Paddy's day. it's not as OOC.
speaking of OOC - a few years ago the city shut down one of the St. Paddy's Day parades b/c the partying was so wild. that parade happens down on the far South(west) Side in residential neighborhoods. a million ppl would pack in and get WHITE GIRL WASTED ALL DAY - taking over neighborhood dive bars and restaurants, puking on ppl's front lawns, fighting the streets...it was too much. it's back now but the city tries to keep it more tame. we'll see. lol.

I used to play this game. Thing is that it starts at like 8am. Be on the way into work and cats is already hurling in the streets. In midtown half the people are hustling for their 9 to 5 and the other half are drunk revelers by lunch time. Niggas be wearing green shirts just to get on the subway.
But I do be liking to watch that shit. Seeing just how drunk and stupid they can get is priceless. When its still daylight if I'm with folk, hopefully one of them Irish I'll just start asking drunk strangers that question in the subject. Nobody knows the answer. And if you can do it with a straight enough face, watching them drunk, stumbling trying to make some shit up is priceless.
Gotta be out before dusk though. Shit just ain't safe. I think the scariest thing is that pretty much every drunk party is one or two degrees from an irish cop. So they all feel invincible.
