The last one I went to was 09 though I admit I was tempted to go to one or two since. Not really feeling the direction of the lineup though I get that it's pretty okayplayery with some commercial and/or du jour stuff mixed in. The promo, man those chicks were corny as fuck.
But yeah like you I have decided against festivals. I went to my first big one 22 years ago (Woodstock 94) and I have been to pretty much all the notable ones Vegas to Nash Vegas and even some overseas. It's just too much for me, man, not really the money but the time, effort, crowd, discomfort and bang for your buck. Yes, *some* acts really taken upon themselves to put on a special show but I could count the number of truly special sets I have seen on one hand. Overall you get the same show you'd get seeing them on their own bill or, in most cases, a worse show (shorter set, less intimate venue, weird time of day, etc).
I'd rather just see who I want to see in a venue I like and go home when it's over than sit in the sun for a whole day or a whole weekend with a bunch of drugged-out people who remind me of Smithers telling Mr Burns that his 100% surcharges created a mix of the wealthy and ignorant.

i remember leavcing one set at Afro-Punk i was really enjoying so i can make it to another one i wanted to see and that 2nd artist didn't get on stage for like 30 minutes...i could have fucking enjoyed all of Kalela's set in that time especially since Cube was more of a bucket list type of experience than some classic live performance
i like the festivals bc i have a heavy appetite for those earlier acts bc i discover a lot of dope shit in a short amount of time...

lil uzi, lil dicky, migos etc. Not only shitty music artists, but shitty live too. I mean, at least they balance it with Kaytranada, A. Paak, and DMX, but that's a waste of a performer. so many better artists could have been picked.

Oh yeah. I seen DMX in Vegas many years ago. We'll see if he makes it, for him something a week away might as well be a century away. That's cool, I guess. Are the Roots gonna play with Usher? If not then seeing Usher by himself would throw a lame headliner in there, too.

I'm sure that will be cool but I don't think I can justify 275 a ticket. I would want to see Anderson paak, DMX, and Leon Bridges but I don't think I want to see them THAT bad.

it was pretty amazing
you forget Usher had joints and the way they remixed them w/ classics and still had the original versions of his songs woven in, it made for a really lively show
whole crowd singing along and the crowd was pretty diverse in age/race
they also had some really amazing musicians up there (cats who tour w/ Sharon Jones, Antibalas, Badu, etc) so it was really on point

I have a single ticket for the Sunday show with Wu Tang and David Byrne.
Work has shifted priorities around and I can not attend - the entire weekend will be spent launching new websites and enabling credit card readers with chip readers.
This is a physical ticket and I will mail it to you (insured , and via a track-able method.)
The ticket cost $122.20 - I'd let it go for less - but not too much less.
Or if you have some records by The Roots that I do not have I'd be willing to trade.

I didn't buy a ticket because I was on the fence but I've decided im making the trip now. Checked on StubHub, tix already dipping below face so I'm in there for sure on Saturday. Also heard there was a Kevin Gates after show that'll be too crazy, but I'm holding off since I know Quest and Co. will be playing all night (or until the curfew)
Anyone else stupid excited for this?

Not necessarily, day one sold out meanwhile Meadows had yet to sell out either day. Plus this'll have a MUCH better crowd/atmosphere so it's an easy choice.
