The drums on this one sounds like the beat on the song in the OP.
Growing up in Philly, we would get Hip Hop, House, Dancehall, Baltimore Club, Go Go and Miami Bass at parties. The Go Go always stuck out to me because it had the wackest drums.

LOL those are the two most notorious to me. Of course House is four on the floor too.
I get what you mean by it, and to me, Go-Go isn't meant for the club like those others are. The fact that it's live drums vs programmed makes it entirely different...and Go-Go is ALWAYS enjoyed most with a live band vs just being played as a recording. It's just a whole different appeal to me.
Go-Go songs use very similar patterns, but it's more so that the swing to them is identical moreso than being the exact same pattern.

Gonna try to find a band to see during one of my DC trips this year.
Baltimore Club recycles a lot of beats, but the difference is 808s/909s and that frantic energy. Go Go seems really slow to me. Plus, it really does sound "churchy" to me, complete with the preachy-sounding MCs and 5-string bass.
I'm not a big dancehall fan either. A lot of the shit that got played in the clubs just didn't do it for me. I like roots/dub much better.

thread and someone posted a rack of go-go mp3s. I downloaded all them shits. This was back when folks were using yousendit and reply with quote to hide links. LOL.
you can really appreciate go-go better at a live performance. I had the opportunity to see Chuck Brown live like 2 summers before he passed. He had Backyard band and Rare Essence come out on stage and perform. They had that whole joint cranking.
