"I just read on Facebook that root canals lead to cancer"

And I about fell over trying to figure out why someone that I consider at least baseline smart would post it.

http://healthywildandfree.com/97-of-terminally-ill-cancer-patients-have-had-this-dental-procedure-previously/?c=htb

That's the link

Within 2 seconds I found the debunk

http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/rootcanal.asp

But I don't think I've ever had such a quick swing in opinion on someone that didn't do something to me.

How do you even consider getting mad at someone who's showing you that you're sending out erroneous information? Your coworker basically told you that she wants to be in the dark.

Honestly, the only reason root canals are still happening is because most insurance companies won't cover implants and they are super expensive.

it was my second account because I never used the first one and forgot the pw. I was barely posting. Not even 50 posts deep. My first time using a threaded messageboard. I was used to vbulletin forums. So I was posting in the wrong spot. Our resident welcome wagon rjcc replied to me and inboxed to let me know I was replying in the wrong area. I dont think we really talked at all then. Shit I've told a couple of people in the 13 years I been here they are replying wrong. But I couldnt tell you who they are now. But rjcc was smitten with me and remembers helping me out and brings it up from time to time.

i heard my coworker say something similar yesterday but didn't hear the numbers. I just heard one of my other coworkers like dude wtf are you talking about. If 300 million people got $3.33 that is 1billion dollars right there.

But even if you just thought about from a logical standpoint of a 1.3 billion jackpot equaling $4.3 million for 300 million people....how much would the tickets be to generate a $1.3 billion jackpot with likely <300 million tickets being bought lol not to mention the Lotto agency being able to turn a profit.

It’s also terribly sobering if you happen to have a high number of these folks as your friends. It’sdisappointing to discover just how many dumb people you know sometimes.

It’s difficult to fight the urge to correct a lot of this nonsense. The “Mark Zuckerberg is giving his fortune away to everyone who shares this within the next three days” was particularly bad on my feed. There were quite a few “better safe than sorry” and “you never know” comments written along with the shares.

Then of course there are all the weak ass hallmark cards “A REAL____ wants a ___ for their heart/soul/mind, not their money!” or “I don’t love easy but when I do I love completely blah blah blah” or other pseudo philosophical quotes. What’s worse about these is I’ve actually, unfortunately taken a few moments to see what kind of comments these generate and sure enough it’s a bunch of fawning over how “deep” and “real” and “honest” and “insightful” people find both the memes and the people who post them.

A lot of these people I genuinely care about but I often find myself troubled by the notion that I really have very little in common with them. I will say that I am almost always unsurprised to see who is posting them but once in awhile I’m genuinely taken aback.

I've moved enough in life that I don't have that many long relationships or even those auxiliary relationships that last when you've been in the same place too long.

I can't wait to "unfriend" a coworker of mine. Very nice person overall, but her life is batty and I don't want that level of visibility into it.

Something that sounded so dumb that i had to read it out loud to my co-workers when i saw it, so we could try and unpack out what the conspiracy even was here

he also believes in 'crisis actors' and pushes pretty much every contrary-to-the-official story thing out there, no matter how ridiculous. it's not even a partisan thing, he's just on that staywoke, know nothing know-it-all shit.

it's even worse seeing the likes and "exactly!" responses those posts get about how the rest of us are uninformed sheeple for not seeing how the illuminati are playing us.

>number of these folks as your friends. It’sdisappointing to
>discover just how many dumb people you know sometimes.

it's not most people i know but it's a higher number than it should be. i'd say 10% of my FB friends are complete morons. probably more. mostly reconnects from way back. i was happy to see only 3 people sharing the zuckerberg thing the last go around, but one wasn't one of the usual suspects, and it was just, "damn... really? you??" shit's disheartening.

It's a fucking discipline.

REALLY? I'll say it again: REALLY?

Yikes. That's one hell of a leap in logic.

>Something that sounded so dumb that i had to read it out loud

>what the conspiracy even was here

Uh... yeah. My thoughts exactly. My brain hurts trying to make sense of that nonsense.

Ah. He's that dude.

It’s maddening, especially in light of the fact that the very mentality that allows this Youtube educated ‘knowing of the ledge’ is precisely the sort of soft clay that would easily be the most susceptible to the sort of brain washing and scheming machinations supposedly employed by the nameless, faceless “They” and “Them” that permeate their ramblings.

>It's a fucking discipline.

Yeah it definitely takes practice.

...you're definitely gonna get the "real niggas" and "real bitches" memes showing up. Typically they're about how you can't trust no one but self, how a "real man/nigga/woman/bitch" will look out, scandalous types, etc, etc. I see those craps so much that I start wondering how these fools haven't offed themselves with all the misery and drama they speak on.

Don't get me started on all of the conspiracy posts that make my BS Meter go off. Cats swearing they're deep because they supposedly know stuff that the "masses/sheep/sleepers" don't know. They tend to type all confident on a matter with their set of friends until you show them some quick info that thoroughly debunks the bull. Even then, they may be on some skepticism because they'd rather believe the bull than have to face the fact that not everything is a hidden government/boule/Bilderburg/racist white man/Illuminati/etc/ plot.

In response to Reply # 19

"... there's 300M people in the US, that's $4M per person, we can wipe out poverty with that money".

... to which I replied "what mathematically challenged idiot posted that??? ... And it's 330M people... and we would get about $4 a person"

"... well... a lot of people are confirming it, maybe your math is wrong"

I didn't feel like the argument and got up from the table.

... hours later someone posted up something calling out everyone for being stupid at math and saying the same shit I said. She was like

"oh... I guess you were right..."

Where is the peace when we are in the back of ambulances? Where is the peace then?
They don't want to call for peace then.
