I actually hooped with Nate Dogg a couple times, he used to live in Pomona. Real ass dude.

Not only was he dope on hooks but his solo shit was slept on, though it was a little monotonous. I don't wanna say he was a one-trick pony but it wouldn't be unfair, but that one trick was awesome.

Just the other day I was watching the video for Indo Smoke and thinking of all the huge stars that were in it when they were young, that the featured cats weren't the biggest names (Mista Grimm lol) and about the dudes that passed (Nate, Pac).

I dunno who the other "hook acts" we are ranking would be but as far as dudes on hip hop hooks, he set the standard.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

'Nobody Does it Better' and 'Hardest Man in Town' are great songs. But yeah, it does get kind of repetitive.
I think it's fair to call him a one trick pony

they basically have one song and if you like that song, you like their whole catalog.

it's not just a rap thing. i would categorize rage against the machine, tom petty and others the same way. and i like both those acts.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

or the distinctive sound of a Busta Rhymes Hook?
or Skateboard P?
fucking Sleepy Brown?

I mean...he got some bangers but giving him #1 outright is not unwarranted...but not without competition.
