we're dropping bombs on iraq, we've got the news on in the lounge.'

I remember where I was when we went into Afghanistan as well. In my house. Mom called to tell me. I didn't have a working TV or internet yet though at home.

I don't remember where I was when we went into Iraq the second time.

talking about it on the Today show. I'd never heard of Kuwait.

As for a the War, I think it was a big thing where they kind of counted down when it was going to start. I was in 6th grade. I was at a Sixers/Hawks game when it ended, though.

I thought that thing was an air raid siren, from WW2. I completely thought we were on the brink.
After no one reacted, I felt like my entire family went crazy, I couldn't understand their calm reactions, in the midst of our imminent death--by Sadam's Nerve Gas.

After they recognized the reason for my behavior, they turned it into a joke and kept it going--until dinner time. I had my action plan in full effect...in a corner in the basement.

Pooped off while I was on leave from tech school and a week away from reporting to my first duty station at McGuire AFB a/k/a Gateway to Europe. When I arrived there a week later, there was desert camo all over the MAC Terminal.

My mom walked in with a weird look on her face.
She had never been to any of my practices so I knew
something was wrong. All she could say was
"the ground war started". My dad was in
2nd ACR there. I really didn't know how to feel about
it so I stayed at practice.

I remember the shit looked like a video game, the green NVG footage, the tracers, the cruise missiles, the Patriot batteries in Israel, all that shit was sanitized and presented like Contra for NES

edit: who can forget Whitney Houston and the Bills blowing the Super Bowl

We used to block shots on the ball court, and then make Patriot/Scud jokes about it later. Anyway, found this article:

Edit: ambient1 beat me to this in post #4. I didn't read the whole post before posting

I was 5. And I remember it interrupting my afternoon cartoon watching. I didn't know exactly what was happening, but I remember seeing the missle fire, the night vision bombings... When the goddamn Disney Afternoon was supposed to be on...
