I'm really familiar with them I may call them "Unc".

If they're around my age its usually "bro", sometimes "doc"(quite often but not always there's some shade attached the that), if their from ESTL its "kinfolk". With close friends its usually "boy".

If they're younger it might be "young man" or "young brother" or just "brother", "youngblood", "thundercat" or just "cat" for short. If we're real familiar I might say "son" or "nephew".

Weirdly I only use "nigga" under 2 conditions, with friends I'm really close to or to people I'm about to fight, lol.

I get those only from people from home. Thundercat was more STL than ESTL when I was there. Then again, you a lil older than me so it probably just diminished in use as I got older. My step father (22 yrs older than me) was the one who used it mostly around me and he was from STL.

I usually go with fam for people I'm familiar with, sir is reserved for elders and close friends.

I call youngin's 'lil dude' even if they taller than me lol

Yeah Thundercat was originally an STL thing. When I was growing up STL and ESTL culture, styles and slang were completely different but it seems like nowadays due to various reasons from social media to the metrolink the lines are more blurred, lol.

For real tho... NYC is one of the few places I get *blank stares* when I "what's up, brother?" a random black man on the street. 40yo dudes looking like they on some jail shit, "I don't know you duke!!!" lol

Everywhere else (south of NJ), the black men seem much more cordial to one another. Dudes here in Philly will straight grit on each other, then say what's up in passing.

look, to a stranger.

it's cool cause i think most men are intimidated by the not-so-friendly stare/grit.

but if intimidation is not a factor, then it immediately becomes a moment of mutual respect - in my experience.

It all begins wit da Bruh-nod which is slowly becoming extinct

head is at. From there, its:

Bruh
Brotha
Troop
Soulja
Slim
Cousin(cant say cuz for short in Cali or ninjaz'll pull out)
Fam
Black
OG
Elder(as in, "Peace, my Elder")
