Also, remakes/adaptations of our childhood entertainment isn't this generations thing technically. It's a bastardized version of our thing.
I know so many illustrators with countless original characters filling the pages of neglected sketchbooks. I'm sure there are lots of writers out there with similar pools of material in their social circles. Pitching content isn't what it used to be for folks in these professions and having something original produced (let alone take off) seems a lot harder in today's climate.
