"If it's an illegal arrest, you fight that later. You file an internal affairs, a complaint with the Texas Rangers, the FBI, a civil suit, whatever," says Kevin Lawrence. He heads up the state's largest law enforcement union."
Which is kinda bullshit; not everyone can afford to drop out of the world for a day or two in jail, on top of having the funds/means to push a complaint forward against a system thats in its best interest to throw as much red tape as possible. There's no real negative to a false arrest since the cop does not get in trouble.
There's also the problem where at any slight hesitation; intentional (dude still hoping to talk his way out of it) or unintentional (three cops mob him to take him to the ground, its reflex to bring your arms up to break the fall and also apparently resisting) so its a weird 'egg or the chicken' moment where you are being arrested for resisting arrest, lol

But the crux of the news story was that there might need to be a different definition of 'resisting arrest' which I would agree too.
Or at least stats taking a hard look at who cops arrest, for what, and what the outcomes of those infractions end up being after they hit the courts so that way there is some blowback for those that arrest people for 'talking back'

reason for physically resisting arrest and that's no bueno. So i thought thats what you were saying at first.
And i agree that most if not all of cop misconduct boils down to the individual cop facing adequate repercussions for their actions. As long as their is no real punishment on an individual level, there will be no change.
