i drug my feet and did the BARE MININUM every step of the way. i detested my ncos in the main & thought my officers were mostly morons whose ass i could kick if it came down to it. if you werent in my unit or in the barracks with me, if we didnt go to boot or act or whatever together? fuck you. white people? fuck you. civilians? fuck you. did my time & bounced.

& you damn straight i claim my vet status EVERY time it comes up...because if there WAS a war...i'd have been right in it.

i did boot camp. advanced combat training. i rode those ships, and slept in those tents. i got barked at, cussed out, rode hard and put up wet for YEARS.

i earned it. war or not.

its run of the mill nobodys like me who win those wars. the miscreants, the rejects, the shitbirds who nobody thought would be anything. all my guys who never made it past lance corporal. we are vets too.

still today.

Man, I have dreams now that have me feeling that I'm still in and that I'm due some retirement money. Can one get PTSD from being behind a desk, counting money, for 8.5 years.

I hated it then, but that was 8.5 of the best years of my life.
