when I fist saw the trailer and saw who directed it I was like "fuckin finally!!!" I know they didn't write it, but back then to see Black directors at the helm of a movie that WASN'T about "da hood" or some historical event or Black figure was great.

Back then all we could get would be something like "Solo", which was utterly terrible, but it did star Mario Van Peebles (yes, I saw it). I've supported sci-fi that starred Black actors and actresses including:

Supernova
Strange Days
Doom (save it... The Rock is Black.)
Event Horizon
The Book of Eli (also directed by the aforementioned Hughes Brothers)

"Half-brothers, Joel and Régis, have a father in common, whom they hardly know. Joel is unemployed and miserable.
